BW was very disappointing and bland. You'd think they would have enough shekels by now for something better. Sad!

Okay, but can we talk about this for a minute?
So, we've got car companies making tanks. Not a problem on the surface, but you quickly run into stumbling blocks, because, well, tanks are really fucking heavy. Some companies bought Wright radial aircraft engines and stuck them in. GM welded two I6 diesel truck engine blocks in, and called it a "U12". Ford just masturbated furiously into an engineering sketchpad while yelling "NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT" and came up with an 18 liter V8 monstrosity. Then there's Chrysler, and of course they have to be a bit different. All they do is staple five I6 car engines together around a single crank, and amazingly, it worked. Kind of. Five engines means five carbs, ten cams, five seperate oil systems, you get the picture. Point is, shit broke. A lot. We ended up pawning most of the things off on the British, and Chrysler, for their part, in the end actually got the damn thing working fairly well, considering.

The real killer was just how awful the animation was, like the whole thing was outsourced to Gainax with even shitter GC. They at least fixed some of the worst flaws in the first BD.

I thought the Chrysler engine was a rushed piece of shit that was created just to have some tanks on the battlefield untill the GAA was finished being developed?
>>24678
Wait a second, i don't think the German flag has arabs letters, yet.
>>24468
Its also a huge pile of garbage.
>>24907
Between the Radials and Diesels, there was no need for a crash development program for a stopgap. Rather, if you're a manufacturer, you can scale production much more easily if you're doing everything in-house, hence why GM made almost solely M4A2s, Chrysler made almost solely M4A4s, etc.
>>24945
It was in Afghanistan. US troops had the same KFOR stuff on their patches as well.

M4 crews certainly thought so.

>>27935
>lies, damned lies and statistics
Because that tank garnered notoriety for its ability to knock them the fcuk out at well beyond their maximum engagement range, and the fact that their own tanks were largely impotent against it beyond a certain distance did little to mitigate their impressions of it.
>>27876
Nice red herring.
>tfw no nuclear powered amphibious tanks.
>>28879
Whoever greenlit that shoulda been shot.
>>29176
>>29514
This board is still alive?
But yeah, that's what they called a break-through tank I think. Three or four were built but were ultimately never used all that much because they were afraid to loose them.
>>29519
Weren't they bombed by stukas while they were transported by train?
>>29526
There are pictures of a captured one, so at least one surived that. I honestly don't know much about them though.
>>29527
They were a WWI design built too late to see service, and as such were /really/ not up to the task of fighting panzer II and IIIs. What they were good at, though was being very, very big and menacilng, so the French mostly kept them away from the front, and paraded them around for morale.

Our mothers, our fathers.
A character drama with rule of cool war scenes.
>>29654
>Our mothers, our fathers
That had proper battle scenes in it? I thought that was mostly a character thing.
>>29655
Snippets here and there. This >>29654 webm is from a different movie though.
>>29663
You know, if you're gonna set shit in an alternate universe, at least make new roundels that are somewhat distinct.
>>29685
Man I really enjoyed the first VC.
Saddened that the sequels (fuck 2 in particular) and the upcoming spiritual successor aren't really in the same vein in terms of style and focus.
>>29687
Yeah the character designs got progressively worse. 1 felt the most like it was still a normal military with some magic and regular animu designs mixed in.
>they didn't even change the map
Come on. Well Lichtenstein has annexed part of Austria I guess.
>>29690
I think a completely different map would've been harder to comprehend in what is essentially a really condensed version of WW2 that only had 12 episodes to work with.
>>29695
It's not that hard to grasp that regardless. I know it's a silly anime but still.
Not like the WW2 analogies slipped past anyone in VC.
>>29697
I dunno anon, I know some people still mix things up in Ace Combat's Strangereal which was also campy but fairly simple. The anime didn't really focus all that much on politics and grand scale conflict anyway. The invasion gets stalled once they get magic andit all ends shortly after. Ruskies and Americans didn't even participate, they were just a looming threat. Antagonist surviving and escaping to America to provoke a Cold War was a nice touch in the end though.
>>29702
That may be because Strangereal uses names like Belka when Balkan is a thing, or Valais.
Regardless even so Zero was just WWII up until a certain point.
>>29708
Izetta also renamed countries and borders to keep it somewhat distant. Eylstadt being Tyrol, Volga being Russia, Atlanta being America etc. Germania is also an Empire which is nice. It felt different enough in my opinion.
>WWII up until a certain point.
Yep, which was also the best war in that universe. It was familiar and easy to follow. Here's hoping AC7 delivers.
>>29710
It just feels lazy not to change the landscape if you're going to make it set in some fantastical universe.
Is this going to turn into /u/ shit halfway down the road?
>>29711
>It just feels lazy not to change the landscape if you're going to make it set in some fantastical universe.
I guess. Then again Alternative History is not the same genre as Alternative Universe.
>Is this going to turn into /u/ shit halfway down the road?Yeah. It starts off as a serious unwinnable war then a gypsy witch awakens to save her princess and wipes the Krauts away making the middle a romantic SoL with conflict in the background. It does go full on YOSHINO in the final four episodes but that's it. If you absolutely can't tolerate yuri pandering then I can't recommend it. Even a godly OST and faithful models by Wargaming won't make it worthwhile.
>>24971
Is there a series sauce on this? or is it just cool OC?
>>29737
Pretty sure those are just OC, it's surprisingly common. Then again i wouldn't know.
>>29737
Just a cool OC but it's tagged as Arma for some reason. Maybe because you can mod Arma into an /ak/ simulator.
>>29738
>surprisingly
I wouldn't be surprised desu. qt3.14 girls + heavy military is really popular overseas.
I especially love it in dull colored and grim real robot genre. The contrast of a giant death machine having a small frail girl on the inside is appealing. Maybe guys at FROM have the same idea seeing how all three protagonists of their novel/manga/anime AC spin offs had girl protagonists. With girl operators.
>>29738
Also that's a godlike artist holy shit.

Okay okay final one.http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=60182771
>>29745
Very appropriate image. The author is on board with this idea of clashing something military/manly with girls because his newest mango features girls engaging in HEMA. Armor and fights are pretty accurate and realistic because the he practices it as well. It's a proper sports manga and not like that one harem with boobplate wearing girls, I forgot the name.First chapter got translated by /u/ http://dynasty-scans.com/series/shoujo_kishidan_knight_tale

That tactic is too advanced for simple school girls anon. They do use half-swording later though.
