The entire show is an elaborate attempt to save Twilight's social life by Celestia. The rest of the M6 were just people Celestia hired in the beginning, remember? What if she actually paid them for much more? Maybe, pretend to be this fucking dork's friend for a few years? Stage the return of Nightmare Moon and the EoH, make Twilight feel like she's special and bound to these ponies by an ancient magical force.
