I don't like how they made her fucking know nothing about magic when the first two times we saw her she pulled off some pretty impressive shit. I guess they wanted her to be some kind of student for Glimmer. Beggars can't be choosers, at least she's learning the teleportation spell, and it's something that only five ponies have done up untill now iirc.

What's her purpose now?

That's my problem with it.

They were building her up as a rival to Twilight and all of a sudden she became a retarded joke character. She's also hated by most of the other ponies in Ponyville.

Meanwhile Starlight has done far worse shit and still manage to make more friends.

eh not really, in All Bottled Up we see her interact with other ponies cordially. The only other time she was "hated" was in No Second Prances but after that there is no sign of resentment from other ponies towards Trixie, which makes sense since she seems to travel around with her show and coming back to Poniville periodically so ponies would easely forgive and forget. It happened with Starlight, Discord and Luna, I don't see why it wouldn't happen with Trixie too

The amulet also gave her the knowledge on how to accomplish those spells, don't kid yourself. It was basically a "you think it, I'll work out the details" gizmo. Proven by how Twilight said there is no age spell, yet the amulet made one.
