Joanna & Kristine have said that they can't say anything about upcoming stuff in season 7 or 8 on Twitter which might mean they are staying even if it's just as writers. Confalone is confirmed and he's pretty damn good. McCarthy said that they changing the way the writers work (likely giving them salaries instead of keeping them freelance) and keeping them around to work on all hasbro shows. Confalone already let it slip that he liked writing for Sunset Shimmer so he's there for the EQG series as well. It's possible that this new writing scheme will actually make writers stay and improve instead of constantly getting new ones. Amy Keating Rogers could return for season 9 since she's no longer with Disney.

Overall, as long as we're not depending on Haber completely for story editing, we might have a good time with season 8 as long as the political turmoil among the writers caused by Trump's win doesn't seep into too many episodes.
