Don't get me wrong, i don't waifu Twilight or Sunset, but this guy seemed to be put into the movie in a way too heavy handed way to try and force a weak romance subplot in an already paper thin plot in general.

Even if they had given him a more developed personality like in EG4 he would've been just as genuinely and generally hated nonetheless because of the stigma against "high school drama with added romance" clichés.

First they tried to make him this suave cool guy who's the rocker with the awuesum sportsball car, who turned out to be just as big of a dweeb as Twilight, then in RR they made him into the actually unlikeable asshole (Granted that was partly by the Sirens, but still...) he was pretty much nonexistent beyond a gag or two in Friendship Gays, and finally he's been cucked to hell in Legends by Sunset, like holy shit he's been cockblocked to hell and back by her.

His personality is akin to sandpaper, IF that, his character is pretty much a more humanoid and even more watered down Spike (aka. butt end of jokes). Even the writers know they fucked him beyond repair, there's no debate.

id agree he started out pretty shitty due to the writers not caring at all about him or his subplot. he was made to be ken. in my scenario he isnt immediately going after twilight. if anything theyd just interact a few times in such insignificant ways that you might not even consider its the beginning of a romance plot. then that would increase over the course of the movies.
