Oh look. Yet another fucking smut green. Good thing we can't have any adventure or, god forbid, romance.

But please. Give me yet another green of Anon fucking a girl/horsegirl. Certainly don't want any culture or substance. You might even learn something that doesn't have to do with a horse vagina!

See, thing is, as a writefag, I can tell you right now that if it's not smut it'll get barely any (You)s. Trust me, I've tried to write adventure with plot and substance. But you'll always get overshadowed by smut greens

How about reading past a lewd scene for all the stuff that comes after it, instead of writing it off as nothing but smut the first chance something remotely sexual pops up, you can't expect the stories be as asexual as you are, especially in here
>>
>>30803180
As others have said, people write to get (You)'s. If you write smut, you'll get (You)'s all over the place. If you write a good, well-thought out story, everyone hates it because there's no smut. If you want to see good stories, you have to praise those who write them. It's that simple.
>>
>>30803180
Quick question. Have you read all of 2012-2013 era AiE? There's quite a few that aren't smut centric. Seriously, I get that you're probably assblasted that these aren't made anymore, but that content does exist. You have only yourself to blame if you aren't reading from that resource because it's "old".
>>
I've read quite a few good comedy/slice of life/ romance stories before. Granted most of them were links to fimfiction or a pastebin so idk if they started here but they definitely exist. Adventure is pretty rare from my experience though.
>>
>>30803320

Adventure is not really compatible with the nature of green text.
>>
>>30803256
So that's where that comes from.
Is that game any good?

>>30803390
nor/mlp/eople don't want badly written stories. They expect anyone who tries their hand at writing to be absolutely fantastic, and will sharply and nonconstructively criticize if they aren't.
>>
>>30803431
As long as you dont have shit grammer, people will give you (You)s for even a mediocre story

You'll get more (You)s if it's smut, but unless it's absolute shite tier even average non-smut stories should get at least a (You)

People say this, but I've read greens whose only difference from prose was using > as an indent and (past-tense) second person.

Not all greentext has to be bullet pointy.

Adventure stories just take a lot of planning and/or require tackling unique themes and challenges every arc to keep it from being formulaic whilst tying it all together so that's not disjointed. It's not easy unless it's just a lengthier one shot.

>>30803431
The only place that felt like that was AiE in its twilight years. Most threads are just happy to have content.

I know greentext is based, and sometimes people need to practice with other stuff, but this is ridiculous
>>

>tfw you would like to put out some /mlp/ exclusive content but your writing style means you generally only write super long stuff for some reason and it's just not worth the effort involved in posting a 20k+ word story 2k characters at a time

Between this and just generally despising writing greentextI have nothing against greentext and can do it fine but it's still a fucking pain in the ass I honestly can't bring myself to write anything besides the occasional smut green here because they're generally short, sweet, and to the point and as such easy to produce in a short amount of time and post in a reasonable amount of time.

There are quite a few people who still prefer to write for 4chan on 4chan, but many people who take their fiction seriously have moved onto places that are more conducive to serious fiction.

That's the point. Making this place blue solved nothing and only made the problem worse.
>>
>>30803629

It is a nice feeling, I agree; I don't expect much for green, but by the same token I feel less invested than I do in fanfictions or even my own personal fiction, for that same reason.
>>
>>30803180
Frankly, this is why I keep my smut here and my real stories on fimfiction. I'd write them here, but they just don't seem to be as liked as my clopfics.
Gotta know your markets.
>>
>>30803650
They made /trash/, a whole other fucking board for you to dump your porn. And you act like it doesn't exist because you're ashamed to have your degeneracy grouped in with the others. /mlp/ need not be a yellow board, in fact it's probably better blue. Fuck off to /trash/ if you're just in it for the porn.
>>
>>30803666

To be fair, it makes sense, especially if you post your stories while you're in writing.
>>
>>30803592
>Just write it all in a pastebin and drop a link in the relevant thread.

I have trouble with that too, a lot of the shit I write is kind of esoteric insofar as there are a variety of themes and moving parts so I have no idea where the fuck to post it besides making my own damn thread for it, and I really don't want to be that guy to just make a thread saying "here's my pastebin lol, a thread died for this"

I'd much rather just publish my shit on Fimfic and then let people link it here if they think it's relevant.

But all the 'best greens' that people share all the time are all about romance
What the fuck are you on about? We even had like a dozen 'best writefag/green' threads these last few months, and more than half of those were romance, some with fluffy smut, and the other half was adventure/comedy/edge

Just fuck off
>>

if by /war/ you mean /warpone/, iirc we have a grand total of one actual green and im 50% sure the writer fucked off and isnt coming back

at least we have a lot of art though
>>
>>30804936
You mean all the art that was made back in the first two or maybe three threads a month ago, before you imbeciles decided to make it another general about nothing?
>>
>>30805005
Sod off mate, it's not even a general. We're trying to avoid sticking the general tag on there because of cunts like you

And a load of art just got posted recently anyways. We have content, just not much green
>>
>>30805040
>name it with the traditional general naming convention
>previous thread was up for a month
>the thread is just sitting around bumping with old art while one guy vomits his green
You're in denial. /warpone/ is a general like the rest of them, talking about nothing, keeping the thread alive for one or two writefags and hoping that PQ will draw something for you. You took a fun idea born in June and decided to run it into the ground. It could've been a fun one-time thing, you decided to turn it into a 24/7 general cancer.
>>
>>30805093
Listen, I'm not the one who named it that.

Once we stop getting new art and the slow trickle of green ends, I'll agree that it's time to let it die. But that time hasn't come around just yet
>>
>>30805134
When there's no content the general has no right to exist. When the general is around only for two to three greentext updates a day, it should die.

I mean I don't browse many generals so idk, but that seems like a fucking lot, Anon
>>
>>30805342
Not him, but it wasn't back in 2012-2013.

And that's just including greens with quality and length that still holds up today. Random anons also weren't afraid to make very short spaghetti story style greens with minimal punctuation and dropping pronouns. People nowadays pussyfoot with "prompts".
>>
>>30805342
Is that really a lot? Are there generals that don't update at least daily? Jesus. It's hard to believe it got that bad.
>>
>>30805360
Well yeah, but we had four times (or more) the activity we have now, Anon
It took less than an hour for a thread to get from p1 to p10
You just can't compare that shit

>>30805362
Well yeah
I mean, I don't browse RGRE but I believe that they're the most active and might get that 2 or 3 updates a day, but some generals only have one or two active writefags
And writing takes time and is rather 'ungrateful' these days, again you can't really compare to 4 years ago
People used to know how to have fun back then and didn't leech as much, and knew and understood how important it is to give your writefags (you)s and attention
But I'm drifting from the subject

Actually, maybe that queen umbra general is the most active, the guy writing on that green writes a whole fucking lot

>>
>>30803180
What's stopping you from writing what you want?
>>
>>30805821
Not him, but maybe because I don't want to wait half a decade to enjoy it as a reader? That's about how long it takes to forget the finer details of your own stuff, IF you don't touch it at all in that time. Speaking from experience, and even then you'll be combing it for mistakes and shit halfway through. It's like trying to tickle yourself while you've been staring at the same stuff all day. There's also no mystery or anticipation when you have access to all the answers before the next chapters are even written. So, the answer to this age old question often is: "I want to experience what I want as a reader, not a writer."

That being said, wanting to correct annoying cliches or trends in the various fanfics you've read is a great motivator, and many people write solely for this.
>>
>>30805871
>wanting to correct annoying cliches or trends in the various fanfics
Smut will win every time
>>
>>30803332
Are you sure? I could probably write something decent with a good premise.
>>
>>30805897
Doesn't matter. When you're writing for those reasons it's the least validation oriented your mindset can be as a writefag. This is when you feel so aggravated, so pissed off, and so tired of a certain set of cliches that you have to do something about it. You want to see the smudge on that window wiped away no matter what, even if you have to get up and do it yourself; to see that it can be done. I'm sure some people want to send their readers, and other writers, a message, but I think that's more of a bonus.

And who cares about smut, really? Who cares if another smut fic is born into the world? It's called smut for a reason, and you can easily avoid it by choosing multi-chapter stuff with a higher word count. Smut is what? 5k...8k...10k words at most? You write more than that, with continuity, and you've at least got a meh romance. Now, that's not to say that you can't write something meaningful with those word counts, but it's about 15 maybe 30~ minutes of reading either way. This isn't to excuse low quality writing, but what does OP really lose by reading smut? He's not even asking for slice of life, but genres that typically need to be longer if they're not in media res snapshots. He knows what he's getting into.

You want to know a real annoyance? Reading a great, lengthier SoL that becomes a mediocre adventure. That's both annoying and a big time sink.
