This did make me think. Afterwards, did they ever reciprocate by doing something Starlight enjoys to learn more about her? One-sided bs right there. Maud went out of her way to fly a kite with Starlight after she went spelunking with her, and even Trixie kept Starlight company while she made teacakes. Starlight hangs around while mane 6 do things, but they never hang around while she does. Of course, she has more free time than the rest of them, but still.

She is really only friends with Pinkie Pie and Twilight. Most of the development she has had with the girls was over a Montage. Since then there has been no other indication of their friendship.

You could say the same for Twilight. There is literally no reason why any of them would befriend her in the first place. Chances are they only did so because she was Celestia's pet.
