I would say that after living thousands of years as her Majesty has that she would be hard pressed to understand the mortals around her. Take a moment to think about it. Self-preservation alone would make her distance herself from mortal ponies in terms of emotional attachments. Those ponies lives are so fleeting when compared to eternity. Every day, though, she has to deliberately commit to not thinking about those things. For now, she can endure it, and hope one day things get better. For them.

Keep in mind that unless you really know what you're doing, killing yourself with an OD is very unreliable. The majority of people who attempt it fuck it up and just end up in hospital with fucked up kidneys and liver.

I have a pistol, and a plan. When I get the diagnosis, when symptoms begin to appear, I am going to pick a nice day. I'm going to get up, go around town, have as much fun as I can. I'm going to have a nice meal and a good bottle of wine and a blunt the size of a road flare. I am going to take a nice, relaxing shower, and put on a pair of adult diapers to make cleanup easier. Then I am going to put plastic sheeting down in the living room, sit down in my plastic-covered chair, put the barrel of my pistol against the roof of my mouth and squeeze the trigger. I will leave a note behind, explaining exactly why I am doing this, and hopefully enough money to handle cleanup costs.

If you poison yourself with gas make sure you don't kill anybody else, especially for tasteless gases like CO or argon. You may not be in an ideal situation when it comes time. You may not be physically very capable.

Having the whole thing planned out in great detail is just a fantasy. What you can do right now is make sure you have an advanced care directive that states that if you are mentally impaired you do not want any treatment beyond comfort measures.

Alzheimers is the most common, and it is degenerative and incurable (currently), but it isn't the same as the normal aging of the brain and can begin affecting people in their 40s. A prompt is an idea with a desire for realization. A plot is the theme that keeps a story together and moves events towards a goal.

In this case, I wouldn't see Cheeri's phobia being a main plot point or focus to a story, it doesn't feel like it's that interesting by itself. But it certainly works as a side story, world builder or good filler.

That's my opinion, though. Someone else with a different imagination could see real potential there to make it a focus.

Not necessarily. If we're talking comedy or slice of life where there really is no central focus but several smaller subplots that create the world the story is based in it can work.

In fact, here's an idea for a story where the plot is in the subplots. Anon finds himself in an alternate Equestria where everyone has a phobia and he goes around trying to help cure them of their fears. So the plot is curing phobias, the subplots are every case he comes across, each one being liable to take anywhere from a day to a year to overcome, depending on how far you want to take it.
