To extend an olive branch to the faggots on /mlp/, at least seasons 1-2 are watchable. They all are honestly.

I'd say yes. Just be prepared to cringe pretty hard the first few eps, until you get used to it.
And don't listen to any opinions, make your own. If you like it or not it's your thing, and if at some point you stop liking it it's ok to drop it. The same goes for the other way, if you only enjoy it more with time, that's also ok.
I highly recommend gtfo of /mlp/ and not coming back after catching up to the series if you really want to get on with this.

This is good advice. Also if you decide to watch it all, watch all the episodes chronologically. Don't use bullshit watch orders, don't skip "episode XY", because some people tell you to. Only skip episodes if you have given it a fair shot and decide you really cannot watch it to the end.
And if possible, resist to go to /mlp/ after every episode to discuss it. Try to watch as much of the entire show before posting on /mlp/, it helps to keep up the enjoyment of the show.

If you think the show is cute, then go ahead. The show changes a LOT after the first few seasons because the staff were very aware of the older fandom. The first two episodes are story-related and carry a different tone to the following episodes. I don't know many people who liked those first two episodes, myself included. Give it a shot and don't think too much about it. It's more fun jerking off to a character when you know their personality.

Yes if you are patient. Don't listen to the bitter parts of /mlp/ who says the series died after the season 2, as the first two seasons are easily the weakest, but are necessary to establish the characters. Seasons 3 and onwards are so much more enjoyable to watch and is worth while if you stick with it.

If it were 2011 I would say yeah, sure. Because the experience of watching something you're supposed to hate, discovering it's actually enjoyable, then going online to share that with a bunch of other guys going through exactly the same thing was kinda cool. We were kinda laughing at ourselves over having a secret we couldn't share with anyone irl. And the stupid fan culture we were building around it was all fresh and new.

Today that culture is not just mature, it's in the process of slowly fading. Most of the interesting people have left. And guys watching a show for little girls is really old meme - six years is an eternity in internet culture terms.

As for the show itself, some of the recent episodes have been among the best. But there are better things to watch now that the shock of MLP actually being good is so far in the rear view mirror.

Sounds like you're going to watch it anyway, so just do it.

S1 and S2 are a lot more relaxed and cute - that's what a lot of people prefer. It starts ramping up after that to have a bit more of an overarching story, and explores a few deeper themes and is generally less cutesy. I prefer S1 and S2, but I still love the show, and especially its characters. Watch it for yourself and find out.
