I sure haven't grown neutral to it. I mean I still watch the show. But to put it simply Twilight was by far my favorite character in seasons 1-3 and now she's among my least favorite, and it's not so much due to the wings but due to the irreconcilable changes to her character that followed.

Problem is whenever I even begin to mention how Twilight was better "before she got wings" (yes, just like in the episode), people immediately tune out at best, or at worst tell me how wrong I am and that I'm just wearing rose-tinted glasses. But I stand by it: Twilight's character (NOT necessarily the whole show) was much, much better in seasons 1-3 than 4+. It would have been MUCH better if they removed Twilight as the main character starting in S4, just had her take the mentorship role and occasionally show up to finish teaching Sunset Shimmer who came back from the human world and reconciled with Celestia, which is what SHOULD have happened, not this half-assed student/mentor thing that Twilight and Glimmer have going on. Sunset's return and finishing her studies under the princess of Friendship would have been emotionally meaningful and more relatable. I don't even hate Glimmer, I just hate that people hated EQG so much that Hasbro refused to let them bring Sunset into the show proper, even though it made MUCH more sense and would have been far better storytelling than what we got/what we're getting.
In case you couldn't tell I'm still bitter about that.

I agree with everything but the sunset part; introducing her into the show would have been just as forced as what happened to Twilight. Doesn't help that she was introduced in a movie special that was barely related to the show, which would make it awkward to introduce her to people who might not watch the movies.

Though I think it would be more helpful to list the episodes one should not watch to save time. I would do that myself, but I haven't tried to remember the episode titles in a long time.
