I'm not sure, because there's a "Movie Adaptation" Novel coming out in Oct. that is described as a straight-up novelization.
Also worth noting that this "Deluxe Junior Novel" is the 2nd entry in a new "Beyond Equestria" series, which has a 3rd and 4th installment early next year (1st was Tempest book).

It's obvious that Hasbro gave them basic descriptions of their "in the movie" personality, but the writers went too far in retelling on how did they ended up in this movie. Like they created OC's like Chummer and that shadwo guy that serve no purpose, and i bet none of them will ever be mentioned. And that this past of his has no connection to his present self. I bet Capper is not even a "kid" as the previous comic estblished. Its just IDW writers shooting in the dark.

I liked it. The betrayal was brutal, it was a really interesting twist.It's a bit disappointing that the misfortune malachite is a plot device that will be destroyed in the next issue. After having such an important role in the prequel series, probably it won't even get mentioned in the movie, and it's kind of weird.
Anyway, I'm liking these comics. It's purpose was to present all the new characters, and at least for me they made a nice work, I want to see more of them in the movie.

This one did not do as much to stand out among the previous two issues for me, it was fairly standard. The lead up about 'how we'll always be together' and all that jazz made Chummer's betrayal easy to foresee and Klugetown didn't do much to stand out among common hives of scum/villain. I think I agree with what others said and that the ending would have been more impactful if Verko had forced the situation by making it so only one guy could get out, which would prompt Chummer's betrayal more believably than 'I got to betray you first before you betray me!'. It would also do more to tie in to Generosity (given it's all but foretold that Rarity will be the one to inspire Capper like Dash inspired Caleano, hence her focus on Loyalty in her previous comic), that when given the choice of who gets to go Capper was never offered a chance as his friend greedily snatched it up and disillusioned him to the idea of giving or charity.
Also confused about his origins: is he a former aristocrat like the bios for the movie says or has he always been an orphan?
