Just finished watching pic related. Is there any reason why this isn't the best episode in the show?
>>
>>30774554
Rainbow was never in the wrong, her parents were going severely overboard with the cunt worship
>>
>>30774560
No, they weren't exactly in the wrong, but the episode should've done a better job acknowledging their shortcomings, too.
>>
>>30774569
>No, they weren't exactly in the wrong
They were cheering her on with a megaphone for wiping herself off with a towel.
>>
>>30774554
Sleepless in Ponyville exists.
>>
>>30774554
The Perfect Pear exists
>>
>>30774560
To be fair, they just realized their daughter achieved one of her life long dreams and it is implied they learned to cut it back by the end of the episode.
>>
>>30774569
It's not really meaningful to emphasize their lesson and muddy the water. Kids will only benefit from seeing Dash's perspective, while we, the older audience who can occasionally relate to the parents, can easily deduce what lesson we should take - like we're doing now.

The lesson in this episode is one of the few cases where the argument "it's a kid's show" applies.

I don't know if I would call it the best episode, but it's definitely in my top 5. I can't believe they managed to make a scootalove moment even more touching that the piece of heaven that Sleepless in Ponyville was. This scene was pure love.

>>30774560
Stop with this already. Dash wasn't in the wrong because she told her parents to stop, she was in the wrong because instead of talking with them, she yelled at them out of nowhere when they didn't know that they were doing something wrong. Her parents were in the wrong too, it's true, but as I said in the episode thread, what Dash did was the TV-Y equivalent of telling your parents "I wish you were dead", and it was terrible, much worse than what her parents were doing.
Something great about this episode is that Dash immediately realizes her mistake, and immediately tries to fix it, putting her love over her pride. Admitting that she was wrong, even when she had a perfectly valid reason to be mad as fuck, was a fantastic moment for her, and pretending that she did nothing wrong makes it completely worthless.
>>
>>30774602
>out of nowhere
They presumably spent days giving her moderate to severe tinnitus

Yes , because it's not a Glimmy episode
>>
>>30774615
I meant out of nowhere from their perspective. Dash never really tried to stop them until she exploded, her parents were completely oblivious. Exactly like Trixie in All Bottled Up, except in that episode Glimmer was completely in the right because she can't do wrong.

>It's a Dash Episode
It's been 7 years and we still have to spell this out for you?
>>
>>30774586
Its one of my favorites, but this episode just uses Scootaloo in such an intelligent way.

>>30774588
Haven't gotten that far yet.
>>
>>30774560
Rainbow wasn't in the wrong for being embarrassed. She was in the wrong for how she dealt with the problem and shut her parents out. As for the parents being in the wrong, I would say that this is a legitimate criticism. What made it better for me was toward the end when the parents admitted that they were embarrassed by Rainbow's grandiose apology. It made me think that they might have learned their lesson.
>>
>>30774554
Scootaloo was perfect in this episode.
>>
>>30774627
Its more of a Scootaloo episode to be honest. Sure Dash learns the moral, but we spend the entire episode with Scootaloo and learn quite a bit about her as well.

This episode was really funny.
>>
It was a really good episode, yes
Maybe not as good as tanks for the memories but close
I still think I would've preferred windy to be the one with the rainbow genes tho, but she's still top unf so.... I'll let it slip

And as much as I love scootaloo, they should've toned down the EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
It was the first time in the entire serie where I felt the NEED to lower the volume
>>
>>30774554

Because its another episode where there is no moral and it's a Dash episode.

At least we got Windy out of it tho.
>>
>>30776120
The EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE moment was one of the few times I laughed out loud in the series.

>>
>>30774554
It's a great episode but Pinkie Pride and The Perfect Pear still outshine it. Still it's among the very best, it's hard to top an episode full of hype with the new hottest mom.
>>
>>30774554
The Apple parents episode was better imo
>>
>>30774554
Same writer of that shitty Spike episode from last Saturday :^)
>>
>>30776833
I thought the writer of this episode wrote Campfire Tales, not the spike episode.
>>
As much as Dash normally gets treated like the dumb one, she definitely seems more intelligent than both of her parents (not that I don't like them) so props to her for that.
>>
>>30774554
>>
>>30776967
No, we don't know the writer of Campfire Tales yet. It'd be really nice if it was the same writer, the interactions between Dash and Scoots here were great, I'd like to see more sisterly bonding episodes written by him.
>>
>>30776149
No moral? There are two distinct morals in the episode, the explicit appreciate your parents one and the more subtle one of not going too far with praise.
>>
>>30776984
Dash as the dumb one? That's new. Ik the show it's a role they typically delegate to Applejack and Pinkie, and on rare occasions (when it comes to practical knowldge esp.) Rarity.
>>
>>30778433
When is rarara not the dumb one?
>>
MILF
>>
>>30774554
It's cute and funny and surprisingly well done. I was expecting it to be cringy from the premise, and although her parents are a little over the top I think it's a great portrayal of all characters involved. Best episode of the show? No, but the best episode focusing on a pony's parents.
>>
>>30778998
>the best episode focusing on a pony's parents
That's very specific and yet there's still a better episode like that.

I love the part where her parents plug their ears in anticipation of it before opening the door to her room.

I disagree.

Cause Scoot has a habit of abandoning her "idol" the moment Dash isn't perfect?

Cause Scoot plays the pity party against her own family while Applebloom's and AJ's are actually dead?
>>
>>30779172
>Cause Scoot plays the pity party against her own family while Applebloom's and AJ's are actually dead?
Wot. Apple Bloom actually has a supportive family, even if its not from her mom and dad. Scootaloo doesnt.

>Cause Scoot has a habit of abandoning her "idol" the moment Dash isn't perfect?
Screaming at your parents without any prior warning about something that is very personal to scoots is something that is reasonable to be upset at. Besides, she didn't abandon Dash after Carts Before the Ponies.
>>
>there exists people who disliked this episode
>>
>>30780025
can't blame them

dash was a cunt as usual
>>
>>30780041
She was called out for her behavior by the last person anyone expected would and changed because of it.
>>
>>30774554
probably the best example of character building for Dash, plus just a heap of max tier comfy-ness.

you will never take scootaloo as the daughter you've never had
