Past Sins has physical copies but they are in limited edition and I think they've only ever been published 2-3 times with 1000 copies each, which isn't a lot in hindsight.

Past Sins isn't the only fanfic to have physical copies. Fallout Equestria is worse for it and I wouldn't be surprised if other fics have also done it.

As for a monopoly? I highly doubt he got much from it, probabily just enough to cover the books. Correct me if I'm wrong, they had to use Equestria Publications or some other private company to get them made.
