She had character regression. For example, she starts out as some what overprotective of apple bloom, but was reasonable about it. No one knew anything about zebras, so it isn't completely unreasonable for her be scared for her sister. Then in season 4, applejack becomes extremely overprotective of apple bloom, resulting in events that almost gets her killed and applejack supposedly learns to give her sister more independence (ignoring how bad that moral was). Then in season 6, things get even worse where she completely ignores her sisters requests for independence in Carts Before The Ponies in favor of driving absurdly slow and goes as far as to forget about her sisters fear of being abandoned by questioning whether or not she was really an apple.

Dash at least had some development in how she treats Scootaloo. But one of the biggest problems with the other older sisters (Dash/Rarity) is that their only real development is tied to their respective CMC sister and ironically enough, its the CMC who developed into far more interesting characters.

I'm still bitter about Lesson Zero and A Canterlot Wedding almost six years later. The fact that it wasn't Twilight freaking the fuck out that was the problem, or that in her psychosis she nearly destroyed Ponyville, no, it was her friends telling her to chill the fuck out that were the ones who needed to learn a lesson. And then in ACW Twilight gets vindicated AGAIN despite still acting like a fucking spazz.

I don't think I'll ever stop being mad about this.

Yeah, the problem with her character early is that she was pretty much flawless. She was prideful but did it within the rules (really had to be pushed in fall weather friend) and usually her honesty preventer her to say sweet lies

But the problem is that she was also often the voice of reason, when it's not twilight. She was the real street smart, etc.
Now usually with someone like that especially country person you'd give them the flaws of having some backward views. Being wary of strangers, maybe racism etc, but ofc that doesn't fit the show, the closest we had was the bat episode, and realistically she was in the right in that episode and Fluttershy was an hippie faggot.

So because of that, almost all of the episodes focused ONLY on her turns her into the stupid one out of nowhere, which contradicts her overall personality.. Thus the one where she take care of applebloom she lose all common sense and become ultra protective out of nowhere even though she bucked apples with her all the time. I think Applejack's day off is by far the worst offender in that case, there were ways to make the lesson possible without makng her so retarded.

This meme that the entire fandom seems to perpetuate of estrus or "heat" is fucking dumb. It's not only stupid, but blatantly on the same level of basic-bitch, low effort, garbage sexual fantasies such as harems and muh god-like human stamina. The concept is asinine to begin with; mares aren't going to go into periods of irrepressible libido where they turn into crazy nymphos and have to fuck everything they see 24/7 or else life is horrid suffering. Estrus is just a period where a mare is more receptive. So maybe your filly friend is more cuddly with you at home, and more likely to want to have sex on the daily. It isn't like they all turn into anime sluts like in your favorite hentai. Second, Estrous is not like this fucking two month long period in spring where everything fucks. It's a cycle, just like menstruation, where the mare ovulates, leaving about a week long period (heat or estrus) for pregnancy. Real-life mares work a little different, but there is NO REASON to think that our mares would only go through estrous during the warmer months. They'd probably have a slightly slowed down rate of cycle to account for the year-round estrous, but in the end they'd probably have about a week per month where they were more intimate. THAT'S IT. Estrous, and estrus aren't some fucking magical fuck switch that comes on during spring and prompts everypony to have orgies in the street. It's fucking dumb and so are you if you buy into it.

My issue with her is that she didn't even get a proper redemption arc. Any and all guilt she feels is from the complex she developed from literally everyone forgiving her at the drop of a hat. No one is actually going to hold her accountable for her actions. She will face no actual punishment for mucking about with the very fabric of space-time, which in terms of general wizard-crimes, is a BIG FUCKING DEAL.
