Assuming that the princesses can only control one sun in their starting solar system and that ponies are walking in blind, how well do you think the Equestrians would do in the Stellaris universe?
>>
Hint: The princesses are charlatans and do not actually control the sun and moon.

Did this fandom actually manage to complete anything at all?

Built some rules lists for tabletop gaming a while back. Sadly I don't have the links on hand, check the archives for relevant threads.

Fucking federation builders, space wall when?

The real advantage they have isn't moving the sun or moon, but Celestia's foresight. Being able to predict your opponents' moves in advance has served her well, and will continue to do so even on an interstellar scale. Arguably Discord might be advantage #2 - he's effectively a highly-mobile WMD; don't like another faction? Send him over to muck about on their homeworld a bit.

Unfortunately, those are about the only advantages they have: On their own, ponies seem to struggle with baseline technologies like standardization - things we figured out in the 1800s - even as they have niche examples of wondrous magic and high-tech equipment. I suspect that those few examples are unique one-offs produced by ponies driven by their cutie marks; they are quite possibly un-reproducable in other situations. Issues with Cutie Marks producing wondrous but irreproducible results will essentially hamstring pony civilization and keep it from advancing on any meaningful scale.

So, where would they do good? As a client or co-operative species with another empire; there, their strengths and weaknesses could be balanced against others. Fortunately, ponies' innately social and friendly nature - combined with those two huge opening advantages - make that a quite likely outcome.

How do you even manage the increasing technology costs with that many planets?
>>
>>30707924
By already having every technology except for the repeatable techs, of course

and using some questionable modded ethics so I can do funny shit like this

It was a long time ago and wasn't around for long, it's probably floating around somewhere, but you won't find it on the Steam workshop. Kind of like the Auschwitz burner that was made for Besiege.
