In the cutie mark map, she was presented as not being anything special as a mage; she had ONE OP spell that twilight easily learned and countered after seeing it-- She was believable and made sense there, her villainy was from charisma, not magical power.


When haber took the controls, he retconned that so Glimmer was a fucking god of magic who was MORE POWERFUL THAN TWILIGHT, compared to her previous showing. Additionally, her motivation when introduced by Haber was absolute shit.
Since then, haber has done NOTHING to rectify things and has made her get worse in almost every appearance.
Larson made her but he wrote her completely differently.

Even if the movie is shit, it'd still be a better ending that whatever the show will do. Season 8 was confirmed surprisingly soon, but it's not always like that. Season 7 was confirmed after season 6 ended. The show could have been cancelled, the production of season 7 would have been stopped, and TWaBA would have been the series finale. That should be a huge red flag, the show could end at any moment, and any shitty finale where the mane 6 are completely irrelevant could be the show finale. It was never a problem while we had better story editors, but with Haber back, I expect the season 8 finale to be another Glimmy Power Hour. I won't take that risk, as far as I'm concerned, the canon ends with the movie, and I don't give a fuck about Haber's fanfic, exactly like he doesn't give a fuck about what the show used to be before he started shitting on it.

I literally never seen him give a shit about a story or discuss a character. Never a single theory or headcanon. He's more into the series for money than any Polsky or Merriweather or David Rapp. Complete lack of soul in his writing was always a clear indication that he doesn't give a fuck about this cartoon.

Only episodes written by Lady Writers and Confalone were good. Which mean that they were good enough to pull off without the guidance of the story editor.
You can see influence of Lady Wirters this seasonm since Fox brothers suddenly made a good episode (Discordant Harmony) while last season they made Applejack Day off and Gift of Maud Pie.
