Do you think the movie has a chance at winning any awards? Like

It will probably be nominated simply because there's very few actual viable films to nominate. It might win a Golden Globe though.

the fact that MLP is done in flash pretty much excludes it from even being nominated at the Academy.

Now, it's been a long time since 2D animation won at the Academy Awards (IIRC Spirited Away was the last, and only 2D winner of best animated picture).

But Jesus, have you SEEN Spirited Away? Or some of the recent 2D nominees like Ernest & Celestine, The Red Turtle, Boy and the World, etc.? The MLP movie will probably be good for fans of the show, but it is in a completely different league with the types of films that get nominated for best animated picture.

If the judges go by quality, the only real contender is that lego batman movie. So, eh, I haven't seen that so I can't really comment. It has a chance, but if I were betting I'd put my money on something else

coincidentally just watched that recently. it was pretty good desu. the frame rate is pretty awful, but the imagery is great.
