I've never followed any IP as closely as I've followed MLP over the past 7 years (babby's first fandom), and everything has basically gone exactly as I expected it to once Lauren said she was done.

It's even less than that. It's a toy commercial. Admittedly, Lauren massively overbuilt it, and it managed to become popular way beyond its target audience. But Hasbro doesn't give a fuck about that - to them it's as much of a liability as a bonus, given the amount of fan generated adult content out there using their IP. They totally don't care about us, and would probably be happy if we all just got off the ride. The show doesn't exist to be good - especially not our idea of good - it exists to sell plastic pony toys. That's all Hasbro really cares about.

I keep thinking I need to quit. I feel like my standards are higher than this.

The thing i realized is that even if the show dies i wont quit pony, because i will always love it. **And the fact that i'm too far in the rabbit hole now.** The thing that drove this fandom on for so long was the inspiration to create content inspired by the show we love so much. No one in the world could say any other show inspired as much content and autism as this one.

For me it was wrapping up Twi's arc in a slapdash way at the end of a short, disappointing S3. But I still loved the characters, so I kept watching. As the show kept meandering all over the place without any real sense of direction I lost more and more interest. I still love the characters, just don't really care so much what they're up to anymore. Because there isn't much left for them anymore, except romance, and that ain't gonna happen.

But I'll always have a soft spot for pony because of the magic it made me feel during the first couple seasons. But the last time I felt that was a little guiltily for enjoying Slice of Life.

Agreed, there has been character development and a few great episodes along the way. But part of what drew me into the show in the first place was its initial conceit of the Princess' star pupil going to a backwater town and being forced to make some friends while dealing with the crazy shit that went down there. You were seeing this world through Twilight's eyes. And she had a sense of striving. That ended once she became a princess herself. Running around fixing friendship problems and becoming a mentor was a clever way to keep churning out episodes, but not nearly as satisfying a theme as the Student of Great Promise. At least it didn't hold my attention as well. Putting Twi in a position of authority just made her less compelling as a character. Not a good thing to do to the central character of the show.

Hasbro is not only lazy, they are outright INCOMPETENT.

Whoever is responsible for not harnessing the most fuckhuge social phenomenon in literal decades (other companies would KILL for the opportunity that Hasbro squandered) should quite frankly be put in jail for grand theft.

Anyhting they ever tried outside the main series was a thorough trainwreck. The number of bridges they burned with their cheap chinese toys, equestria shits, horrible comic and book writing, brand decay, and COMPLETE lack of social initiative WHATSOEVER has left basically complete and utter salted, decrepit earth.

There may have never been such a wasteful failure of squandered potential in the entire history of media than what Hasbro did with MLP.

I'm not sure if I should be pissed people as dumb as some of the people in this thread exist, or happy that people like OP won't be on this board for too much longer...
