No strong opinions on the rest of the shorts. EQG shorts were never very good. Better than the RR shorts, worse than the FG shorts. I think it's funny that since there's no movie this year, they took the opportunity to make shorts for the origianl EQG. Now just LoE needs shorts, and every movie has its own set.

I think I like the animation better than DHX actually... looks more bouncy and alive. I was a bit taken aback by how well Rainbow Dash's breakdancing was animated for example (when she first started, not the shot showing just her legs obviously)

But I really hope they don't go full slice of life for the inevitable EQG series, but these are not boding well... the writing wasn't even that bad, it was actually pretty ok (hard to get a feeling for the writing in such short bursts though), but the actual things taking place were just completely mundane. I don't want to watch a show of "The Mane 6/7 and their silly high school hijinks," it needs to have a deeper plot than that. (not deep deep, but not as ridiculously shallow as these)
These shorts basically were *everything* that the Anti-EQG crowd has been saying about EQG since day one.

I feel like hasbro is testing the waters and trying a few different options to see what gets the best response. Also in these series' the magical elements are given a backstory, we rarely learn anything about that in EqG and what we learn is not very important. I am all for introducing these elements, but I think due to the ties from FIM it would be difficult to start introducing this as a thing from Equestria without it being difficult.

The biggest benefit EqG has is its non-committed premise and a world with few rules defined.
