Nothing in them felt essential to the series or revealed anything important ot the lore. It's sad that Meghan decided to dumb it down for Normies to understand it and comepltely removed the alicorn lore and anything from Journal of Two Sisters book to accomodate newcomers who know nothing about the tv show or books. If the Sony hacks are anything to go off of, the original movie's script was so wound up in MLP's extended mythology that it became too complex for those who haven't been watching since the first season. Sony advised to make a self-contained story where you can get the gist of what MLP is about and tell a story in that world. That way, you could have a story satisfying for long-time and new fans. Unfortunately for Sony, their advice of what KIND of a story to make was basically a repeat of their fucking Smurfs in New York bullshit movie.

MLP is the only Family movie releasing that weekend and the entirety of the month of October. Families WILL go see this movie as it's the newest family film to come out since Ninjago only two weeks before. Y'know, you guys had me thinking about how they could've kept with the lore, while not keeping fans out of the loop. They could've just made a prequel, where it goes into the back story of any of the following, before the series touched on it.

If they did this, they could've even done after-credits with the S1E1 opener
