They're really not worth watching imo. The only episodes they actually finished were ones with very few plot shots and thus were the easiest to edit, but basically it's 99% the same as the official episode. I think there were plans to do Winter Wrap Up since that has a lot of pony plot (even a close up of Twilight when she gets pushed by the cart) but again, since it required too much effort it was never finished, as far as I know.

There has been quite a bit of stuff to come out of /mlp/ that's not perverted. Just not full length episodes. There was one in the works for like years... it had a deer I think? Also I should add that this is still 4chan... it's about the seediest place you can visit that's still mainstream-ish. There's a lot of great content made by fans of the show, here and elsewhere, but in gerneal /mlp/ is not a great representation of "fans of the show".

You sound like you're being serious and don't quite understand 4chan or /mlp/ (that you William Shatner?) so I just want to reiterate that stuff you see here on /mlp/ is generally indicative of the much more negative, cynical, occasionally perverted side of the fandom. But this is actually only a small minority of the whole fandom.

Years ago /mlp/ tried to make an episode called Do Or Deer based on an episode concept Lauren Faust wasn't allowed to (as far as I can remember) work out further. /mlp/ took the base, wrote the script for it, there were artists and musicians standing by, but bickering among many writers for how the script should exactly be worked out caused the project to fail. The artists and musicians were ready to work on something and pushed out some concept art, but because there was no finalized script and no general direction it fell apart.

The anonymous nature of 4chan inherently makes it hard to get people together on a project in an organized fashion. /a/ did manage to create a visual novel called Katawa Shoujo, but it was really only started on /a/ and devs had to organize outside of 4chan and communicate through other channels while picking up people from other places to work on it. That's why in the end many people never really considered it to be a work of /a/.

That was the main reason. People who had never visited 4chan (or never wanted to) were asked to come on board, and there was an even higher aversion to "outsiders" back then than 4chan still has now.

A. This fandom is filled with untalented fucks anymore. Anyone worth their salt left the ride in 2013-2014 and probably erased all traces of their existence along the way.
B. Even if we managed to scrounge up some writers, animators, voice actors, and musicians, there would be endless bickering.
C. All our effort would be for naught when DHX fires a C&D our way. Just like what happened with all those abridged series.
D. Have you ever seen Dusk's Dawn, Snowdrop, or Double Rainboom? Imagine the worst aspects of all three of those combined and amped up to eleven. That's what /mlp/ could churn out on a good day.

Nothing should feel safe, Even Legends of Equestria should feel a bit worried.

Even though, no one just gave up on that project and there are many many content creators out there willing to try to create even if they are eventually are shut down. As sad as it is for some, others as myself find it a thrill to do something and just see how far they can go.

Who gives a shit if we get nothing in return, we are the fans and why the fuck will we stop appreciating what we all still love?

The biggest issue anyone has is letting anyone other than themselves take the lead. Everyone is an egotistic self absorbed imbecile who rather see a project crash and burn than have someone will good organization skills and leadership take the reigns, even for a bit.

IF /MLP/ wishes to do anything then you need a creative director to oversee everything to make sure everything is consistent and you need a leader of every team to keep order. Be it top down or flat leadership roles, every project must have a leader.

Problem is, everyone wants to be the leader. For many of us, it's the only way that we feel valuable. Not to mention whoever does become the leader will probably just use the project to make their own dreams come true without giving regard to what others want. And then, if people start to complain that they want X, Y, and Z put into the project, and someone else wants A, B, and C instead, and nobody can pick a side or all votes end up with ties, the leader might become frustrated and just flat out leave. Then the cycle either repeats or the group just disbands.
TL;DR /mlp/ is too autistic to accomplish anything easily. By the time we get anything done the ride will be over.

Exactly as I put it, Many just want to be the leader and not give that position to anyone else. I have been a leader and follower on many many projects. What makes good leaders is the ability to take the initiative which many lack.

The second thing is to have a plan and follow through. Be it an animated short, Music Videos or a book what ever, there is no plan, Not even an outline. So everyone is fighting for leadership and meanwhile running around like a bunch of scootaloos with their heads cut off.

This is why for allot of projects in real companies, you have design documents. This outlines the project in a formal fashion to which others can follow. It would then be up to the creative director to make sure that everything is cohesive and the producers to make sure the project doesn't bloat. Everything has a scope, with out it, it all is bloat.

I use Photoshop CS3, it's an old version but has always done what I needed it to, and it's from before Adobe started charging a subscription fee like a jerk.

The clean lines come from the Pen tool. It takes a bit of getting used to but basically you position a line (called a path) exactly where you want it, then you can create an automatcally drawn line on that path. This is what I do for every line in the picture, a process that was much slower than drawing at first but I'm pretty adept with now.

The gradient colors are from the gradient tool. Just make a selection around the eye, pick two colors, and you can fill the selected area with a gradient, very easy to do.
