To be fair, they are a shitload of work, and if you want top quality eyes and CMs the embroidery machines are expensive as hell at that size. Printing and taping /cutting the pattern can take hours alone.

Wasn't talking about cel shading dude; most of the examples I've seen use some software trickery to dynamically rearrange the face (mostly the muzzle) depending on the relative angle of the camera.

I get that they're trying to stay as on model as possible. I even respect it, but I don't think it's necessary, and it (probably) won't work in VR... which is the only reason to go 3D imo.

A lot of makers slowly move their prices up as they gain experience and a following.

I got a plush from a maker for $600, which would now cost roughly $950 after 2 price changes, and that's on their lower end. I bought a second one after the first price hike for $800.

I would gladly buy a third one, priced at about $1000 at their current prices, because I trust them and like their quality. They have a long wait list so they found a good place with their prices.

She only made a tiny or no profit in the beginning (if you work their hours spent on it at a minimum wage) because she was still figuring it all out.

Start with learning a sewingmachine.
Then get yourself an embroidery machine. Anything connecting to your PC will do.
Many of those plushies are made out of 2 sides body, 2 sides head, 4 round parts for the hooves.
Learning how to stick the manes is hard. Start with fauxfur. Make fuzzy manes. Try to make demos out of like cotton fabric instead of minky, and only use minky for when you want to finish something. There are many templates of plushies on deviant art. Maybe we need a plush maker thread.
