Bump
Surprised we fell off before I woke up today.
>>
>>30538831
Same.
I guess no one was there to stop the thread from getting sacked.

But, I have ample free time now to do some writing, so I'll get on that.
>>
I might make my boxing story anthro.
>>
>>30538831
Also same.

>>30539456
I wouldn't blame you. It's hard to do boxing with 4 legs. Either anthro or human would be the way to go, I think.

Also I didn't get to talk about how shocking it was to see Elements lose to Ranchers. I really didn't expect that. Any it wasn't a close game either... What happened?
>>
>>30539510
It looks like the Rancher defense was keeping the Elements down.
And Rarity's rating was below 85% for the first time too, while Braeburn was on fire. Either Ponyville's receiving game was way off, or Rarity was not at her prime.
>>
>>30539456
What >>30539510 said.
The ponies could stand on their backlegs maybe, but it would be awkward to do that for multiple rounds.
It's also kind of hard to take them seriously like that.

This would be the green that I would accept anthro.

I hope the Elements don't go the way of the Bouncers. It's a scary thought
>>
>>30541173
And the Sentries rally from last week's game to handily beat Cloudsdale!

I'm glad they found it in themselves to charge ahead in this game. Judging from the game log, there were some exciting drives from both teams, though CLO was more pass heavy, for obvious reasons. Would have been great to see live.

So this means CE stays at the top of their division?
>>
>>30541644
Yes.
>>
This is the pre-sleep bump.
But it's partially got something because there's two choices for what I do after EHF. Either I go in for a second season, add more free agents, get them signed on different rosters... or I do another sport.

So, yeah, let me know stuffs.
>>
>>30542200
Hmm... That's hard to choose. I like both of those ideas. What other sports are you thinking? I don't know much about other sports besides football but I'd probably end up learning about them for the sake of ponies.
>>
>>30542820
The other sports he's talked about doing are basketball, hockey, and baseball.

Pony basketball intrigues me, but the prospect of a second hoofball season sounds amazing. I might lean toward the latter desu.
>>
>>30542200
If you continue with the EHF, is it possible to add expansion teams?
>>
>>30543959
It's pretty complicated but it is possible. It would take a while to do so.

Not even sure who'd I even include for expansions, TBQH. In terms of Pony-based teams we have them all covered and any other race would consist of me making up 40-50 names.
>>
>>30544544
Well, the "official" map has a few cities left to draw from: Baltimare, Rainbow Falls, Trottingham, and Griffonstone, if your inclined to believe they can handle a hoofball franchise. And only two new teams should be added, if you do add them, just to keep things simple.

If you do end up doing EHF: Season 2, with expansions, I wouldn't mind handling names so that you have one less headache to deal with.

I just want the Baltimare Nightmares to be a thing dammit!
>>
>>30544704
Griffonstone's last known state, probably not. Probably lost their franchise like Baltimore did a long time ago when the Colts moved.
>>
>>30546620
I actually headcanon that Baltimare lost their team to Ponyville.
The Colt's entire franchise moved to Ponyville when Twilight and her friends put it on the map. They got entirely new players, changed the name, the look, the whole shabang.

Baltimare sports fans are really salty about this and just absolutely despise Ponyville. If they ever got a new hoofball team, an ugly rivalry would be instantly created between Ponyville and Baltimare.
>>
>>30547054
The Baltimare Nightmare's popularity also took a hit when Nightmare Moon turned out to be real. Ponies thought it was a good mascot when it was just a legend, but now it hits too close to home.

But there are still die hard fans that believe the team should return, even with the old mascot. They keep running into opposition from the Royal Sisters for some reason, though...

>>

>>
>>30549866
Oh you're right. Why do these ponies get injured so often? For being harbingers of friendship, they sure are ruthless.
>>
>>30550420
I'm gonna say that a lot of injuries are you know... small ones that have them back next game, but there are a decent number of big ones.
>>

"Wow. This Moonlight Charge must be a great hoofball player to get you this excited."
>"Yeah, she's pretty good. But, that's not the only thing that's great about her..."
>Block loses focus and kinda just stares off into the distance, with a smitten look on his face.

"No way!"
>"Yeah. I thought that might interest you."
>Woah, a fellow Seaward alum on the team with you!
>Get all kinds of hype!
>...You still don't remember her though.
>Must have been in a graduating class before you went to school there.
>Still! You two came form the same school!
>And ponies say Seaward doesn't turn out pro material.
>You and this Moonlight Charge really showed them!
>Block taps you on your shoulder and takes you out of your thoughts for a moment.
>"And wha-do-ya know. Look who's coming up right now."
>Block points his hoof behind you and you bring yourself around to see the very pony the two of you were talking about.
>Moonlight Charge can be seen trotting up the sidewalk toward the both of you, carrying a similar collection of gear to your's.
>Her fur is a deep midnight blue, with a complementing yellow and white mane.
>Her manecut is one you don't typically see on hoofball players: short, prim bangs that cover the sides of head.
>The only player you can think of with a similar style is Twilight Sparkle of the Elements.
>Not really your style, but who are you to judge.

Goddammit Manehattan!

Both times. They lost to Dodge Junction both times.

And they had such a good start early in the game. Too bad they didn't keep up for the rest of it.
Almost had it at the end too, just needed one more touchdown...

Ah well, better luck next game.
>>
>>30569552
Bump.
>>
>>30568732
This makes sense. Braeburn freaking killed it during his game.
>>
>>30568722
Dodge Junction! We're supposed to rely on you for being bad!

Also, I just realized, is Cherry Jubilee injured? She was QB right?
>>
>>30572147
She's the backup I believe
>>
>>30572147
Last time I checked, they have two QBs near same overall so starter occasionally shifts.
>>
>>30572244
Oh, is that what they do? Well, why not I guess. If their quarterbacks are the identical stat wise, might as well switch them out to rest one up mid game.
>>
>>30572244
You know, that could explain why they're going so poorly. I bet neither of them have great stats. So, no matter the QB they choose, they'll have middling results.
>>
>>30574097
Well, looking back through the game log, I looks like they choose to field Perfect Spiral more than Cherry Jubilee. And Spiral's not terrible, the record shows she's comparable to Moondancer, who is painfully mediocre.
I think the Bandit's troubles might be deeper than just their two quarterbacks.
>>
>>30574558
I'm not so great at analyzing this stuff. Why do you suppose DJ is so poor? Poor stats all around? Bad strats/coach?
>>
>>30575293
I'm not great analyzing the game log either, I'll admit to that. But I just feel the blame shouldn't be focused on the quarterback, important as they are.

Looking back, Perfect Spiral's record isn't great, but it is pretty good. She's had some really good ratings, albeit with some mediocre ratings mixed in, and a couple absolutely awful ratings.

Cherry hasn't gotten much play time in comparison, and her game to game ratings don't reflect skill IMHO. The only full game she played was the first in the season.

From what SimAnon told us, there's not many gaps in player stats between the teams, so maybe the Bandits do have a bad overall strategy?
>>
>>30575536
Or rather, the fact that Cherry hasn't played a full game since the first makes me not give her ratings as much credence as Spiral's. I'll just take SimAnon's word that they are equals in skill.

Stats comparison between DJ QB's.
>>
>>30575638
Ah okay. Spiral's got the edge on experience, speed, accuracy, and tackle over Cherry.
I guess the experience and accuracy is why she plays more than Cherry.
>>
>>30575638
SimAnon, do you have an opinion on DJ's performance his season?
>>
>>30575797
They're only two games out of first place in their conference and still not last in there. Bouncers are.

They are getting killed though in the passing game, but they're dominating the running game on D. Same thing on Offense, pretty much. Bad passing, good running.
>>
>>30575860
Kek. I've almost forgotten about the Bouncers.

That's interesting though. I sort of thought the same thing from reading the logs. DJ is kind of like a brick wall: you can't run through it, but you can pass over it.

>You giddily prance in front of her and recite the song of your people.
"Seaward Seagulls let's take flight, soaring high with all our might!"
>Your impromptu cheer and dance startle Moonlight.
>She stands dumbfounded at your goofy introduction. Probably wondering why some weirdo just galloped up, unprovoked, and shouted some random cheer at her.
>But something clicks in her mind from the rhyme and her face lights up with a nostalgic smile.
>"No matter what, through day or night, Seaward Seagulls fight fight fight!"
>She recites the second line of your school anthem, and you both rear up to point to the sky and deliver the final line together.
"GOOOOOO SEAGULLS!!!"
>Both your and Moonlight's duffels slid off your backs when you two reared up, but you don't pay that any mind.

>She gives you her most congenial smile.
>"Who are you? Are you from Seaward Primary?"

>Your nonchalant attitude seems to placate her enough, so you answer her question.
"Anyway, my name is First Down. It's so nice to meet a pony from Seaward around here!"
>You hold out a hoof and she bumps it with her own.
>Bringing Seaward back up returns Moonlight's smile.
>"The feeling is mutual First Down, I'm Moonlight Charge. Pleasure to make your acquaintance."
"Same! And I know, Chock Block told me about you."
>You point back to the linepony, who trots up to join you two.
>"Hey Block! See your already introducing me to my new teammates. What a gentlestallion."
>Moonlight nudges Block and gives him a wink.
>His cheeks flush at the compliment.
>"Oh pshaw, I'm just trying to be friendly Moon."
>"He's a real sweetheart you know. Nicest pony I've met since coming back to Manehattan."
"Yeah, speaking of which, Block also told me you were in a collegiate league out west."
>"Mhm! After graduating from Seaward, I went to college out in San Palomino. Played on the college team for a full ride."
>She tells you more about her time at university, and apparently, Moonlight is one smart cookie.
>She majored in arcane science at SPU and is playing hoofball to make money for a personal research project of hers.
>Your not sure how she can cram the time for hoofball and science projects, but her dedication to both is definitely admirable.
>Then again, two fashion designers, a pop star, and that pop star's former manager play for the Zephyrs, so it's not like it's uncommon for some crossover of careers in the EHF.

It all works out because time is infinite in cartoons. You don't have to balance schedules or worry about how long it takes to do your hair. That's how everyone can somehow have time for a full-time job, play hoofball professionally, and save the world.

Or maybe it's one of those deals where the whole world agrees not to have any problems for a while so they can play games. Kinda like Mario Sports/Party games.

>Collegiate leagues
Hoofball in Equestria is weird. Seems they just kinda hire ponies from anywhere. I guess it makes sense - ponies seem to be less concerned about social/professional politics and more concerned about inclusiveness and fairness. Who cares if you didn't go to school, as long as you can do it? Heck, Rainbow Dash is a dropout and now she's a Wonderbolt.
>>
>>30599618
If a pony can show a team that they're capable and that they need them, they'll sign a contract no problem. Or at least that's how I see it.

Moonlight proved herself in a collegiate league. Downey proved herself in an open tryout. Two very different ways into the EHF, but both viable in this version of Equestria.

I thought of having each race have a different boxing style, similar to how races have their own style in real life boxing.

For example, I think of dragons as having a Mexican style; granite chins (meaning they can take a lot of punches), great stamina, tend to come forward a lot.

I don't know anything about boxing, but that sounds cool. The cultural differences in each region affects the boxing style, which would make it especially strange if someone fought as if they were from a different region.

>>
>>30643050
I don't know, I like the idea of Pinkie being the b-baller of the group. She plays a mad sporadic offense and loves to roast the competition with playful smack talk.
Rarity's already got hoofball as her sport anyway.
>>
>>30643559
Pinkie wouldn't be a street baller. At least, not an aggressive one. She'd probably intensely frustrate other players (accidentally of course) to where they start getting physical, though.

Rainbow Dash, however... She'd play fair if her opponent does, but if someone stats throwing elbows, she'd push back hard.
>>
Bomp
>>
>>30643964
Oh for sure. Pinkie would't play dirty or anything, she'd be having too much fun to do anything like throwing elbows or getting grabby. Though she might have to adapt to that style if her opponents start getting rough with her.

Rainbow Dash, Applejack, and Rarity all seem like the types to favor retribution if their opponents do get dirty. I can see Dash and Jack double teaming a cheater to enact some court justice.

>>

They are horrid on the road.
>>
>>30682674
They're just plain horrid. They passed for more yards, rushed for more yards, had the ball almost for 10 more minutes than Dodge, and they still lost.

Hell, they went for a 2 point conversion with 13 minutes left in the quarter and they weren't even that desperate. Still would have been a touchdown away from beating DJ with a field goal. I mean, I guess a successful 2pt con would mean a field goal would tie the game. But still, I think there was more risk than reward with that move so early in the quarter.

They're deserving of meme team status.
>>
>>30682811
I don't even know, I think they're just desperate for a win or something.

Since they've lost 9 straight now?
>>
>>30683471
Yeah, probably. They're clamoring for that W.
>>
>>30684179
Weirdest thing is that they are mathematically still in playoff contention. Probably because Conference Leader, Vanhoover, is only 7-5.

Though at this rate... LAP will be eliminated in 2 to 3 weeks if they keep losing and VAN keeps winning.

Las Pegasus is the worst team by far, they're the only team to not have scored over 200 points total, the only team to not have won a game on the road,

DJ's beaten three teams twice though, Las Pegasus, Manehattan, and Fillydelphia.

The whole race is crazy.
>>
>>30684921
>Las Pegasus
>playoff contention
I am legit surprised, considering
>9 straight losses

DJ is a weird horse in this race. LAP and FIL are arguably worse than them, but MAN is a good, competitive team, and DJ soundly beat them twice.

Other than Ponyville being lead horse, I don't know what to expect in this league anymore. But, that's sort of a good thing. Keeps things exciting!
>>
>>30685246
Well, we're about halfway through the season, and the Bouncers haven't lost every game. Once they lose half of the total games, they'll be basically done. This will happen soon, I believe.

I think the Bandits may end up being playoff Wildcards if they keep it up.
>>
I'm just gonna take today off and probably 3-pack the last three games of this week for you all tomorrow.
>>
>>30685398
Half of the total would be ten right? So the next game will be the deal breaker then, cause I'm pretty sure they're going to lose.

Dodge as the Wildcard sounds possible, now that they are 6-7.
>>
>>30688530
Everyone but LAP is close to each other in that conference.
>>
>>30688530
There's a little bit more to it than that... I believe you can make it into the playoffs with a losing record, but there must be several other teams with losing records too. It's harder to do in the NFL because there are more teams, but there are only 10 here so it's a little more feasible.

That's my understanding, at least. But I'm pretty sure it is indeed possible to reach playoffs with a losing record in the right conditions.
>>
>>30689974
Not to mention that whole conference is pretty much under .500 besides Vanhoover.

I know there Downey author was gonna work on it... And at some point a few Anons discussed the idea of different cities having different fighting styles (i.e. Griffonstone fighters would be different from Manehattan fighters).
>>
>>30697823
That I am. Wanna write the whole thing before I post it though, so just hang tight you guys. Also, I'm going to make the characters anthro,
even though I'm not really a fan. Like another anon said before, it'll be easier and less awkward to write boxing ponies if they're bipedal.

I think the discussion was about different races having fighting styles, not different cities. I'm not well versed in the different fighting styles of boxing, but that sounds pretty interesting. Anyone here have more insight into that?

Head-to-head record I believe, then the W/L in the division(which is their conference), then W/L against other conference.

Ponyville racing to be the first 10-win team.
Vanhoover might be the second team to hit that mark, having 8 wins currently.
>>
>>30704462
It still hasn't settled into my mind that Vanhoover is a good team. I need to give the Dragons more respect.
>>
>>30706797
That's right you do. Spike wouldn't like it if you were disrespecting one of his fav teams.
>>
New episode today!
but when will we get another sports episode like Buckball Season?

Anyone here ever played football in the rain? That sounds like fun but also sounds like hell. I'm sure the ponies would like a roll around in the mud though.
>>
>>30712812
Rarity isn't weak to mud, luckily.
>>
>>30713552
What are you talking about? Rarity hates mud.
>>
>>30713930
And yet she's been playing QB, getting sacked and dirty, probably been already taken down in the mud.
>>
>>30713981
Rarity can take those hits as they come. Though it helps that her O-line gives her the time she needs.

>>30713930
Did you not read the green anon?

No?

I was just looking at the thread because y'all have been here for awhile and I wanted to see what's up. Not really interested.

>ywn play against the Elements
>ywn be the defensive end with the soul purpose of tackling Rarity
>ywn take every chance you can to take her down
>ywn throw smack talk her way every play to try and psych her out
>ywn rush the pocket and put the pressure on her
>ywn sometimes be just too late when she throws the ball, so you simply slide your side along hers and bump helmets to let her know you mean business
>ywn never get that sweet, sweet sack every once in a while
>ywn drive her into the dirty turf as your bodies make contact and set her team back by 10 yards
>ywn join in on the pile-ups when she rushes the line, crushing her with your teammates
>ywn go for a hit even after she throws away the ball
>ywn put her face first into the ground and be sure to stay on top of her for a little too long, making sure she feels your weight
>ywn do this shit the entire game
>and ywn see Rarity's smug face like pic related when the Elements still win in the end because she is a QB god and even you couldn't stop her
>>
>>30716061
She's just too good, anon.

Week 15 huh... I can't believe the season's almost over.
>>
>>30722778
After season ends I'll probably throw that strawpoll up for next sim.
>>
>>30724574
You're willing to do another? Bless you, sim Anon.
>>
>>30724629
I'm willing to do something, may not be hoofball though.

Also, other side projects for /mlp/ that I work on are starting up again, so there's that.
>>
>>30724677
I remember you saying either basketball or another season of hoofball was on the table.

I'd be hype for either one TBQH. Did you have other ideas as well, just out of curiosity?
>>
>>30698572
Are they any diamond dogs involved? They'd be natural Boxers.
>>
>>30727028
There's not going to be a diamond dog in my story, but that's a solid idea for others.
also, good pun
>>
Are the Top Boss and Discord green anons still here? I miss those stories you guys.
>>
Bump, been super busy because day off and I still have 'work' to do.

>>30725666
Basketball, hoofball 2nd season, hockey... baseball, those were the four..
>>
>>30729437
No rush anon. Do what you gotta do.

Nice, I like all of those options... except baseball, to be completely honest.
>>
>>30729437
I vote for basketball, or another season of hoofball.
>>
>>30729437
>>30730776
>>30731560
Should we hold a strawpoll?
>>
>>30733624
Maybe not right now, but definitely once hoofball season is over.
>>
>>30733624
I'd wait until hoofball season is over, yeah.
I'm gonna throw a couple games today if time permits but they won't be for a number of hours, right now I'm in process of recording some footage on other games.
>>
>>30736175
You put a lot of work into you sim stuff anon
>>
>>30737319
I do my best.
One game incoming soon.

Canterlot is officially an elite contender, neck and neck with Vanhoover.

Here's another game where possession time is interesting. Cloudsdale had the ball a full 10 minutes longer than Canterlot, but still lost. I didn't look at the play-by-play very deeply yet, but I bet it's because they tended to make 3rd downs a lot, and still ended up having to punt.
>>
>>30738004
Nice, will read later.

Things will get pretty crazy, thinking two games today.

These two teams confuse me the most. I don't know what to think about them at all.
>>
>>30743955
They've flip flopped this season, that's for sure.
>>
>>30742758
Amber Waves' receiving was top tier this game, but Apricot Bow's rushing won in the end I think. Mercury just wasn't consistent enough in her passing.
Plus, the Bandit's defense completely shut down the Sentries' running game, which I'm sure did them no favors.

>>30745710
Sorry, not Apricot Bow, I meant Cornflower.

I was really worried about this game, but I'm glad to see MAN pull through.

They've got a really good home record.
>>
>>30750171
I know, they're doing really well.

In other news. LAP plays VAN at home soon. A win pretty much locks LAP out of the top spot in the division, and puts them more on life support.
>>
bump before bed

Poor LAP. Sad to see a team with such a strong start to the season be reduced to meme team status.
>>
>>30751748
All they have to do is win every game from here on out. They can do that, r-right?
>>
>>30752291
Sure anon. The Bouncers can totally win the rest of their games. They've got this so in the bag.

Neither did I, especially Rarity's failure to deliver.

Must be an off day.

>>30756505
An off day to say the least! Man, I was really hoping to see Ponyville be the first to reach 10 wins this week. Let us hope this is only a minor setback.
>>
>>30757599
Four ints, geez Rars.

Flutters did work though.
>>
>>30758290
Maybe Rarity was still upset about the boycott.
>>
>>30756115
Fluttershy's actual reaction to the loss.

>>30758290
Yeah, it's definitely not like her to throw so many interceptions. She was performing pretty alright before she started giving the ball away in the second half. Maybe she had something on her mind? Or maybe got tired near the end or took one too many hits to the noggin?
