also, looks like Fluttershy's contribution will be taming some sort of "storm beast". Friendship is magic 2.0 here, Fluttershy is used to calm a monster, Rarity uses generosity to make a friend (capper), Pinkie uses laughter to keep the other 5's spirtits up, ect.

Yeah, that sounds about right; the group will probably try and get someone as a guide around town to help them charter an airship and get capper.
Capper will then proceed to try and con them into following him trustfully, and sell them into slavery, only to end up getting nabbed somehow himself by the same slavers, with rarity giving up something (A gem? maybe gambling and using herself as the bargaining chip price to win his freedom) to save him.
