There was an entire subplot in Friendship Games about Sunset Shimmer missing Equestria and her old life. When that all got cut out of the movie, so did this part of the song.

It shows not only her progression and her growing concern for her new group of friends, but that she's still mad at herself for going down the same path that SciTwi is bumbling down, while simultaneously showing that what led her down that path to begin with, her temper, is still not entirely within her control. This is why, when she snaps out of it, she immediately feels not only guilty but disappointed in herself, even though the core message of her rant was valid (and then some). She had just blasted all of her remaining baggage into the face of a stranger. Both barrels. Also, don't fuck with Shim.

The songs in the show have kind of been shit for the past 2 seasons though (and in LOE) since ingram admitted he'd been phoning shit in to focus on the movie's songs.

Rainbow Rocks is my favorite, but I'll admit it would be pretty bland if not for the Dazzlings and their music. Most of the movie is Twilight can't write a good song.
