My roommate freshman year was a total jock douche bag and there was no way I was gonna put up pony stuff and explain everything to him and all his douche bag friends. Then down the road I made friends with similar interests and now I continue to be a faggot.

When I got to college, I didn't put out any pony stuff for 6 weeks. Everyone was cool with me, and I was good friends with everyone there. When a bunch of people on our floor, or only a few would go to get food (cute grills included), they'd ask me if I wanted to go. They included me in these things not because they felt bad or some shit, they genuinely liked me.

Then, 6 weeks in, I said fuck it and wore a shirt, threw up a poster, and put Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash on my desk. You know what happened? Fucking nothing.

I was asked if I liked MLP, I said yes, and that was the end of it. We still went to eat and hang, we'd play Cards Against Humanity in the common room, and everything was cool. I'd wear a shirt occasionally, no big deal. I had a pair of pajama pants with the Mane 6 - Applejack, one girl called them cute but NO ONE CARED.

There was actually one person on my floor who didn't like it. My roommate. He actually loved Zelda to an unhealthy degree and thought I was creepy for liking MLP. I mean, I enjoy a Zelda game now and then...but him. He was a dedicated Nintendophile overall. He thought my 4 or so MLP shirts were creepy (not to mention I had like 20 Beatles shirts I assumed offset that), but he had like a fuck ton of Zelda shirts, the shield back pack, ect.

All I'm really saying, is don't come in and establish yourself as "that weird guy who likes MLP." I saw many people do that. The dude who had a hat 120% covered in MLP pins and wore a seatbelt belt themed like MLP. The dude who wore MLP shirts and the Vinyl Scratch jacket (with ears) every day. Ease yourself in, and you'll be "that regular guy who happens to like MLP" instead.
