I'm so hyped, it actually looks like it'll be really good. I don't know about it getting more than 60-70% on Rotten Tomatoes, but I'm excited so who cares.

I'm here for other reasons. I was never that excited for the movie.

Until it lets me down, I'm still more excited for the Season 7 finale.

I'm hyped. I haven't found the show, or EQG, to be more than mediocre since S4 and RR. This looks like a return to form, and I couldn't be happier about it.

I love the animation, but I think I grew sick of these adventure plots a while ago since they are all so similar.

It is pretty much the best of what I expected, but not the best I hoped for the film.

I think the story is going to be very weak. looks like one of those monster high/ Barbie movies, basically everything I did not want an mlp movie to be, while everyone else seems to be creaming themselves about how "big a deal" it is that even the casuals will watch it

It will be a typical McCarthy plot.
If you have seen The Crystal Empire, EQG1-2, Twilight's Kingdom, then you kind of have an idea of how this plot will go.

I don't think anyone is expecting that, or even really hoping for that.
Honestly, the biggest change will be the change in animation (and therefore expression) and the sheer length over regular episodes.

Dragonshy and Power Ponies could be added to that list as well. Not a two-parter, but a straightforward adventure plot comparable to the ones you listed.

She does have exceptions though, of course her regular episodes don't fit the mold at all, but Canterlot Wedding is a suitably epic episode that's also rather unusual.

I do believe the plot of the movie will be fairly straightforward though, possibly split up into several smaller arcs that shift in tone.

Stretched out content would be great IMO, because that would afford them time to focus on every character fully.
I think it does mean more content though. Seaponies, Hippogriffs (toy only, so far), Captain Celaeno and her harpies, Capper, and of course Tempest Shadow, Grubber, Storm King and the army, and whatever is lying underneath all that.

That's a LOT of content, to the point where I really do fear the movie might end up a bit cramped for space.

I would like a different kind of plot too, but I think that this is the kind of adventure plot Meghan McCarthy feels most comfortable with and probably the kind of plot Hasbro feels most comfortable with.

I am sure it is easy to come up with a better or different plot, but this is what is reliable for everyone involved.

Creatures = Characters
Celaeno, Tempest, Capper, seaponies, etc. are all going to be toys, and they will focus on them.

7 new characters, give or take. And the singer, Sia.
So 8.
Plus the mane6 and Spike.
Total of 15.
Even spending a measly 5 minutes on average focusing on each character gives us 75 minutes. In such a scenario, we're left with 15 for the actual plot.

I mean... That's not a realistic scenario, some characters and locations MUST be glossed over or dealt with quickly, otherwise the time constraints can't add up.
My biggest fear is that rather than STRETCHING OUT the content and giving us say, mane6, Tempest, Storm King and maybe one more the time they need and deserve, they will indeed give us MORE content in the form of additional characters, additional locations, additional toys, etc.
