They probably weren't done rendering the scene but the marketing department threw a tantrum, so they had to fork over the WIP scenes for them to jumble together.

CGI is generally the very last thing finished in even feature films. Trailers for The Hobbit had scenes that looked flat out ugly in the trailers that were fixed on release. This is actually normal in movies.
