Holy fucking shit, my entire problem with the art style ended up just being a mistake. Here I thought some incompetent moron was just adding shadows to bright scenes to make it look as if they were fully using the budget, but it was just the shadows being fucked up again. My hype for this movie is now fully restored.

It's too bad the trailer removed pinkie staring up at the airship because that was the most noticeably bad shading or me. It looks like her eyes have drop shadows and everything just blends terribly. I'm so fucking happy that this is just a mistake with the trailer.

It's in lots of movies with CGI elements these days. Wonder Woman trailer had a cliff with less people on it than final. GotG had a mask that was massively improved on release.

This is the first non-CGI animated movie in ages. You couldn't see thinks like this in Zootopia or Frozen because the entire scenes were rendered at once. Here the background and the airship are rendered in two separate pipelines. This is more similar to a real action movie in that regard that any of the million Pixar-like movies we've seen in the last decade, and the Smaug trailer is completely relevant.
