That was in the movie all because some producer saw a spider horror movie and wanted to put it in Superman Lives but the movie was canceled so he ported it over to the other movie he was producing.

Also reminds me of the time Michelangelo's VA almost got fired because the producers got drunk the night before they began recording and joked about how Mikey should sound black. Then one of them took the joke seriously and gave the actor—who already went through the auditioning process to get hired—a hard time because he couldn't sound black enough.

Grubber will betray the Storm King because he's upset the King took him for granted and underestimated him. His betrayal causes the Storm King to turn to the ponies for help. When the ponies help him and Tempest defeat Grubber, the Storm King is reformed and learns about the magic of friendship.
