The shows cannon exists in service of the current story, the story doesn't exist in service of the shows cannon, people forget that when the concept of cannon was invented it was a relative concept to what ever story line the current comic editions were printing.

Seasons 1-3 are the only canon seasons except the season 2 finale where Cadence is just a normal unicorn and not an alicorn and everything after season 3 including the finale is just Twilight's fantasies in the afterlife after she was tragically killed by an improperly prepared spell.
