>There has been someone at Hasbro/DHX since 2008 that has actually legitimately hated a small cartoon dragon enough that they draw him getting murdered as official concept art
>They actually believed him constantly getting shit on was something appealing to the audience
Did anyone ever laugh at Spike eating shit? I'll admit it was funny the first few times but man it eventually got to the point where you expected it. It's pretty insane how much the creators of the series actually seemed to have a grudge over him of all characters. Why?

Nearly every cartoon or TV show thrives upon one character being beat up upon.
>Big Bang Theory had Sheldon
>Drake and Josh had Megan
>SpongeBob has Squidward
>MLP has Spike
What's the difference?

The dedication to it that bordered on a personal grudge for a cartoon character.

There's nothing funny about just seeing somebody fall over, unless they're fat.
There has to be some kind of setup or circumstance that makes it funny.
If Spike getting hurt were actually a joke it would be the most overused joke in the series.
I fucking hate Spike but that doesn't mean I enjoy watching him sustain injuries while everybody laughs.

I feel like the show staff had it as some sort of in-joke, like "How can we fuck with Spike this episode" for a very long time. And eventually people got super pissed at them for doing it so they had to tone it down.

Poor spikebro. I've always liked him.

Fans always did, staff didn't.

People criticized Spongebob for it in later seasons when he got shit on without even the slightest bit of karmic justification or well intentioned (key difference) fuck-ups from Spongebob.

>since 2008

when development started

It started that long ago? Wow

>megan
>being beat up
you wanna rethink this one anon?

Hopefully he dies
>>30414318
>Megan
What? If anything, Josh was the one that got shat on the most. Megan practically gets away with everything.

We talking about D&J characters or MLP story editors?

This.
