Is this, dare I say it, and perhaps a small stretch, the best episode of all time?
>>
If you were wrong, you wouldn't be very far off.
>>
>>30383903
Maybe best if the definition of a good episode is how many tears one produces whilst watching it.
>>
>>30383962
Magical Mystery Cure would be the show's zenith then.
>>
>>30383903
>Granny Smith is definitely not old when they marry
Goodness, how young were they?
>>
>>30383903
yes, the porn of this episode is good.
>>
>>30384236
I haven't seen much porn.
People don't want to sexualize these pure cinnamon roles.
>>
>>30384253
>pure
They have three kids, they did it many times. Over and over.
>>
>>30384199
Well the tears from this are genuine sadness, the tears from that are from RAGE.
>>
>>30384268
Virginial birth.
All of them.
>>
>>30384231
It was 15 years between their first meeting and that picnic on the hill, given the completely cliche love story they were going for, we can assume they married at either 16 or 18.
As a one year old is a stretch even for rugrats tier baby babble translations, i'm going to assume they were 3 years old when they first met.
>>
>>30384352
Are the apples jedis?
>>
>>30384421
Are cutie marks the force?
>>
>>30384438
If Celestia is Obi Wan and Twily is Luke, then Glimmy is Rey.

They're both Mary Sues lol
>>
>>30384449
Granny would be Obi-Wan, lying about their mother's origin.
>>
>>30384268
For the first time ever, the thought of a loving pony couple having passionate sex very regularly doesn't even give me a boner. It just makes my heart warm and happy for the two ponies who deserve nothing but the best.
>>
>>30383903
Just watched it. This episode actually got to me. No other has so far, but fuck... Can't help but want to know more about their story.
>>
>>30383903
I don't know about best of all time, but it's definitely in the top 10.
>>
>>30384652
They took them from the world after three children, because one more would have broken Equestria in two from the sheer force of their passion, like two stars crashing into the earth.
>>
My only criticism is that the whole town knowing their parents and not telling them is a huge plot hole/dick move.

If theyre dead just come out and fucking say it
>>
>>30385113
How is it a plot hole?
When the Apples Save Granny didn't know she was a Pear.

The death of ones Parents at a young age is a tender subject and one that should not be pried into unless given permission.
>>
>>30384652

I tried to write a wedding night clopfic but by the time I got to the actual sex it just felt wrong to write it.
>>
>>30385113

>How is it a plot hole?

Youre telling me in all the years Big Mac and AJ have been alive neither Burnt Oak, Mrs. Cake, or Mayor Mare told them they knew their parents when they were young? If something terrible happened you dont have to say that but in all the years theyve live in Ponyville no one has ever approached them and said, "Oh yeah me and your mom/dad go way back."

Come on man thats a bit of a stretch.
>>
>>30385181

Meant for

>>30385140
>>
>>30385147
Pear Butter and Bright Mac are too pure for this world. There's some porn of them, but fapping to it just doesn't feel right.
>>
>>30385113
You must be a real dick if you're going to pry into someone's business that is that sensitive to them. They already knew their parents were dead, it's more of the fact of bringing them up could cause an emotional episode. When they were calm and collective and showed an interest in learning about them, that's when everyone in town knew it was okay to share their personal memories about them.
>>
>>30385193

How the fuck do you go your whole life not knowing who your family friends are are you fucking serious
>>
Here's a thought.

Should they get Felicia Day to do more VA work for MLP, or leave it at this? She's a new mom in real life, after all.
>>
>>30385217
There's a time and place for everything, it's like what the townsfolk said, it's hard to know when it's the proper time to tell someone. Everyone moves on from losses differently and may take longer to move on than anybody else. I sure hope you don't know anyone that will be in a similar situation like this, because you obviously won't take the person's emotional state into consideration when bringing it up.
>>
>>30385237

Okay you are missing my criticism. Its not about "Hey lets talk about your (implied) dead parents" is the fact that neither AJ nor Big Mac knew ANYTHING about Mrs. Cake or Burnt Oak.

Like come on man youre telling me they went their whole lives not knowing about their parents closest friends? And if we make the argument that they were alive for a portion of AJ and Big Macs life (hell theyd have to be to make Applebloom) they NEVER saw their parents conversing with Mrs. Cake or Burnt Oak or had their parents or these people tell them stories?

Again, are you serious?
>>
>>30385271
The stories they told were all before the Apple siblings were born. It's possible they lost touch for awhile. Friends you have when you're younger aren't always the friends you keep later in life.
>>
>>30385296

>Friends you have when you're younger aren't always the friends you keep later in life.

That argument seems pretty piss poor considering how highly Oak and Cake spoke of them.
>>
>>30385271
It's not uncommon to be ignorant of the friendships that your parents may have had while you're a child. Whenever my parents would be hanging out with their friends is when I would be at school, or spending time at a friend's house, Applejack and Big Mac being no different. Friends drift apart later on in life too, Mrs. Cake could've been a little busy with her business to have some girl time, Burn Oak probably didn't see his friend much after the marriage. When they died, the two were young enough to be completely ignorant of their friendships since kids don't tend to think of their relationships outside of the family like they do as they grow older.
>>
>>30385310
Literally this.
>>
>>30385307
Do you not have any friends that you were very close to when you were younger, but lost touch with over the years? It's not uncommon.
>>
>>30385328
This, I used to have a friend where we would hang out all the time and do everything together, but there came a day where we lost touch and I've been out of contact with him for 10 years now. That doesn't change the fact that I've had fond memories of him and there's plenty of stories I could share about us, not every friendship can last forever no matter how close you are.
>>
>>30385310

Plus it's a difficult topic and Mrs. Cake and Oak weren't exactly itching to run over to their dead friends' young kids and tell them all about their dead parents. They had their own lives to live and they didn't necessarily have the time and emotional resources to go spontaneously offer to go through that sort of emotional turmoil for them. When it first happened it would've been too soon and they would've been too young, and then it's easy to just let the years go by and never decide it's quite the right time to do it, until finally they come asking...
>>
>>30383903
Why didn't friends of the couples didn't tell the offspring anything?
>>
>>30385353
This, letting somebody know about their family may seem like the right thing to do, but it's much more complicated in reality. When we think about sensitive matters like this, it's usually dealt within the family, mostly with parents telling their child about something, but if that sensitive subject has to deal with the parents themselves being dead, this scenario you layed out is unfortunately a very common thing to run into.
>>
Never in all my time in this fandom did I think a Season 7 episode would make it into my top 3

Not the best, but it would be foolish to deny this one shattered all my expectations.

This was Larson/Mcarthy tier writing and quality
>>
>>30383903
Maybe not the best, but definitely top tier. Surprised the hell out of me - after reading the synopsis I expected to hate the episode.
>>
>>30385140
Yes but AJ and Big Mac are already working adults now.
We all know they just don't touch the subject because it is forbidden for little girl show.
It would have to be a tv-13 episode special or something.

Only a grand episode like showing their death or some grand adventure two parter that finalise with Fluttercord wedding may top this ep.
>>
>>30387396
>showing their dead
Not allowed in tv-y rating.
>>
>>30387398
They could imply it with a blackened screen that cut off their scream. Or something like that
>>
>>30387403
>they could imply it
>>
>>30387403
They already implied all they could, dumb ass.
>>
>>30385113
Mrs Cake even acknowledged its hard to know the when the right time to bring stuff like that up is. They at least were aware of their parents names. Who's to say they didnt already know some things besides their love story and their mothers side of the family?
>>
>>30385147
post pls
>>
>>30383903
It may very well be. Can't really see them ever topping this episode and it would crazy to try. You can re watch this episode and realize some interesting detail each time. One thing I found interesting is Pear Butter's is not to dissimilar to Pinkie Pie's and could be indication to her relationship to the apples or just a coincidence that I'm autisticly misreading. Point being This episode gave us a lot of things to look at and possibly learn something from.

It also gets more depressing the more you think about it, like when you consider these.
