I'm new here. What order do I watch the movies in relation to the seasons?

It really doesn't make a difference. You should just start it after S3 because by the first movie Twilight is already a princess
you don't
>>30336630
Which movies? G1 ones? They're not related to G4 anon.
>>30336647
All of them. I'm really new and don't even know what G1 is. I do plan on watching them all though. There isn't some kind of guide for this?
generation 4: S1 > S2 > S3 > all the equestria girls movies (heavily optional) > S4 > S5 > S6 > S7
the other generations? idk.
There is no movie until October unless you want barbieshit
Season 3 - Equestria Girls 1 (happens after the finale) - Season 4 - EG 2 (happens after the finale) - Season 5 - EG 3 (actually happens during the season ending) - Season 6 - EG 4 (happens whenever after S5)

thank you

Real answer
Only watch G1 if you have plenty of spare time, it is quite girly.
Avoid G3 and 3.5 at all costs.

now I'm regretting not starting with g1

There is absolutely no continuity of any kind, it doesn't matter.

First, disregard all other replies. We get newfag threads regularly, so people give deliberately misleading answers.
Second, go to http://yayponies.eu/ and download episodes. Start with season 1, episode 1. Watch first 4 episodes before deciding you like it or not.
Third, Equestria Girls movies can be ignored until you've caught up with pony episodes.
Fourth, piny comics are entirely optional and not considered canon. Leave them for last, or ignore them entirelt.

OP already got serious replies, stupid fucker. Kys.
>>30336630
This >>30336873 is about right, but I'd say to give the chapter books a chance after you've gone through those first three items, comics really are optional though I can recommend ones I liked out of those too, since the Berrow ones and the Journal of the Two Sisters were written by people who wrote for the show. Maybe start with the princess collection first to get a feel for whether you'd like it.
>>30336845
At least not between generations, yeah. The most you'd get out of it is a few (a very small few) updated characters, but they aren't directly tied to their predecessors. Each generation is a reboot, not a sequel.

I would listen to >>30336741 if you're at all interested in the Equestria Girls movies, because that's where they fit into the timeline. But they're made in a way that they can be ignored, if you just want to watch the show.
Also seconding >>30336909 on the Journal of the Two Sisters, because it gives some much-needed backstory and was written by a fairly central show writer.
