Ignore them? Fimfiction has tags specifically for sad and tragic stories, and most fics linked here are from fimfiction or pastebin. I know pastebin doesn't have tags though.
Besides, if the story is actually good, i don't mind sticking my nose in it, as long as I'm not feeling like shit. If it's not good, i try to think of a meaningful critique, even if i can't say anything to the author specifically, and I make a mental note of it as an example of what not to do when writing a story. If i do feel like shit, i avoid sad fics like a plague, and I avoid pastebin for the day.
Simple as that.
Don't let other people's bad choices deter your desire to discuss things, anon. You wouldn't choose not to buy a gun just because of some mental case going around shooting folks, would you?

Someone posted in the previous thread about the Library of Babel and I figured it could make for an interesting story, so I’ll give it a crack.

P.S. Some of this stuff may not entirely accurate from the book or the theory. Partially because it makes sense for Anon to not know it entirely and because I want to write a story, not do research homework

If there are 3200 characters per page and each book is 410 pages long and there are, say, 200000 words in the dictionary (among which we include some punctuation and formatting marks), then there are exactly 200000^(3200*410) books in the Library of Babel. And because every book longer than 410 pages can be split into a sequence of 410-page volumes, the Library of Babel is a *finite* library that contains every book of any possible length.

This number, mind you, is incomprehensibly large. You could read for googols of years and you wouldn't have read even a googolth of a percent of the library. But the whole point is that the Library of Babel, while containing every possible book, is in fact finite.

But I won't let that detract much from it.

I have not read Borges' original, but maybe he just couldn't into math and assumed it would be infinite. The number of books is beyond comprehension, but definitely finite; if one is immortal, it is possible to read literally every possible thing that could possibly be written, and then move on to something else. I had Discord move on to his Athenaeum of Orders,
a sort of library of babel of universes. The whole point of my story is that Discord is obsessed not with chaos, but with order, but chaos is the set of all possible orders.

I think that making the library repeat itself is silly and attribute it to that Borge didn't into math, but he's still morally right in the sense that its vastness defies human comprehension. There isn't even a name for the number of cubic meters in the Library of Babel; it transcends a googol by thousands of orders of magnitude.

When I finished her outer shell, I felt it would be a great idea to work out her inner structure too. So I basically built her entire skeleton out of heavy armor blocks, and filled the empty space with light blocks painted red.
So essentially, you can grab a missile launcher or gatling gun, and melt away the flesh from her bones and watch the glorious destruction as you decimate her into pieces.
Also, her horn lights up if you go close to her, and you can just embrace her beauty... it's totally up to you.
