I wouldn't work for Hasbro if it meant saving the universe. But I'd happily murder them and take away their generic thoughtless franchises nobody wants and lock them away for good, like The Smurfs should have been or Alvin and the Chipmunks.

As for video game ideas. What the hell us so hard to just say a good 3D platformed adventure game featuring co-op and 6 party members at once? With some serious open world and replayability between those scripted missions.

And no, Unreal Engine 4 and Unity ate horrible for making such a game in. You're better off working in a Mario N64 editor than to struggle to optimize those overrated clunky shiny turds.

I believe Horse Game might be something of interest for you, it's pretty solid, and it even runs in Unity. It has no multiplayer, as that's not their primary goal at this point, but it's got a demo out, with real time combat, exploration, open world, and platforming.

While I can't say myself for Unreal since I've never used it, you're wrong there. There's a good amount of open world games that use Unity, the aforementioned Horse Game, Zineth, and Sonic Utopia to name a few. And they all run decently on even the oldest hardware. I would know, since I'm running on a shit 2.1ghz dual-core integrated-graphics laptop from 2009 and all three of those still run good.

As for optimization, Unity is fairly simple in nature when it comes to optimization. In this day and age, you need a pretty shitty system to not be able to run a Unity game on at least 720p60, so optimization isn't the big key here. What you might be looking for is "no one is making it because it's such a massive project", not "no one is making it because optimization sucks in Unity".

Also, I only listed those two engines because they're free and have loads of tutorials and resources to get someone started in gamedev. Whether you like them or not is besides the point.

So do really simple, retro graphics, like the ZX Spectrum or something. It'll give your game a unique look and identity, and you won't have to rely on existing art, or teaming up with an artist who you might have to pay, and who might not be reliable or easy to work with.
Plus doing the graphics yourself is art experience you can bring to another project in the future.

Im working on a relatively big game atm, and I had the idea of testing my code by using it to make lots of smaller games.

For example it would take almost no extra code to make a small tower defense game in my "engine". if I release that I can release it as a complete game instead of an alpha, test my UI, input, character control, projectile system and more.

Has anyone tried this type of testing before?

Games are always tested. But no one said that every bug must be fixed. If you find a bug, is high likely that the studio knows it too. And if it isn't fixed after some time the studio said that was too expensive to do and the time used to create more content would bring more money than fixing that big

It probably has something to do with the investment it takes to make/play a game.
People are likely just "oh, neat there's a Fallout Equestria game" then just play it for a little while and pass it off. Same as fanfiction.
Making a game is a bit different, but can be a little demotivating when you realize fans don't really care for pony games it seems.
At least, unless it's a dirt-clicking simulator with nothing to show for it other than people dicking each other behind trees.

making the combat turns system is way harder than what I imagined
I guess is because unreal engine was developed for first/third person shooters, so in-engine tools for time temporisation between objects in game wasn't a thing to think about it
but now I have turns! I can move as long as I have action points and I can pickup items during combat time spending action points

I enjoy these ones, I only wish he hadn't stopped after the Colgate one.

Still this game series lacks a lot of gameplay elements that would make a proper game. So far it's a bare-bones platformer with some serious problems from player character to boss balancing.
