Anything is real which has an effect, anon. The degree of reality is based on the degree and quality of the effect. Sure, I am unlikely to hold Pinkie Pie's hoof in my hand or by crushed by one of her hugs, but I can hear her sing and speak and watch her wacky adventures with her friends (they're my friends too) and bookmark more fanfictions than I can read.

For now, she's real enough.
