I still kinda am, looking back I think I took her as a charity case, thinking I could "fix" her. She was abused in her previous relationship and she had no friends. At least she recovered from it later, "thanking" me for being honest at least.

It's always been that way Anon. You have to get yourself together before you can try to get a relationship together. If one side leans on the other too much for support and they feel like they're not getting equal footing, a relationship will die. Sure, there's some sacrificing that is made in all relationships, but it's always for personal gain and it's really hard to find someone who believes they are gaining more from you than you are from them. Does that mean love doesn't exist and it's impossible to work through things? No, but it takes a lot of effort and if you're working on yourself, you don't have any effort to spare to put into something like a relationship.

Waifuing has always been the easy way out and it will continue to be. I use it right now as a crutch to stave off crippling loneliness when I'm at home because I'm too focused on career goals to take the time to put anything into a relationship. Does that make me a bad person or useless or broken? No, it just means my current goals are focused elsewhere and taking the easy way out at home means I can focus at work easier.
