That was literally what Starlight's nightmare was about. Her choice going horribly.


Spells are spells and like the ones she's used before and was told not to, these are sort of manipulative spells in that they change Ponies without real consent. Asking what's the worst that could happen is besides the point

The episode with Trixie showed she has absolutely no control over her own magic as she sublimates emotions into spells. I think most of the time she is at the mercy of her magics capricious whims and has just learned to cover for it with "I meant to do that..."

telling starlight not to use magic to solve problems is like telling rainbow dash not to fast or ponkers not to party. glimmy is a gunslinger. it makes her an interesting character and plot device that she acts on instinct (and it usually pans out).
