Also how did Rarity's gem finding spell not pick up this cave? It had loads of rare gems and Rarity seems to visit the caves a lot to gather some more.
Seems weird since I thought the spell was literally for Gem detection. It's been shown to pull in directions too if I'm not mistaken

Her special talent might be finding gems, but she's still a fashionista - not a geologist. To me it sounded like, for a long time she didn't try as since around her adulthood she believed friendship wasn't meant for her and didn't seek for it, only after her graduation she got an urge to make friends as the loneliness has proven to be too much.
