Equestria Girls has to be watched from the end of each season. Once you finish season 3, you watch the first one, once you finish season 4 you watch the second one, and so on and so forth.

Anyways yes, there is a feature length movie coming out in October. It boasts new animation, celebrity voice acting and is basically the first fully 2D animated film since 2011. Personally I think it looks cute and I think it's in good hands since most of the production team from the show is working on it.

The movie for friendship is magic will be out in September I think. The show was meant to end on season 3 that's why it'll seem weird when you watch it. Also season 7 is being aired right now.

It doesn't. It's events are never mentioned (and sometimes explicitly ignored) in the show. You can watch them whenever, or not watch them, they're entirely irrelevant to FiM. The MLP movie comes out in October.

EQG's existence is so offensive to some ponyfags that it's become something of a Schrodinger's Cat; it's simultaneously canon & not-canon, depending on your personal taste. The main show's careful to not explicitly reference or contradict it for this reason.
Biggest difference is a major character that EQG has & the pony show doesn't. MLP eventually introduced a similar character if that ain't enough of a selling point, but they're fairly distinct IMO.

Some general notes that're probably worth mentioning:
>S1 was pitched, envisioned & largely created by PPG & Foster's Home stalwart Lauren Faust
>S2 is well-liked but had progressively less input from Lauren (typified by the finale), so has a "beginning of the end" reputation
>S3's considered a hot mess, Lauren was gone and Hasbro only wanted half the usual episodes so everything's very rushed and hackneyed and controversial, think of it as growing pains
>S4 gets back into the flow of things, works on a lot of S3's problems and wraps up the Twilight & Friends "arc" started in S1E1, perfect jumping-off point if you feel satisfied

Season 5 tweaks the status quo for a new multi-season arc, like a S1-mkII. Some love it, some loathe it, point being the Mane Six aren't the be-all-end-all anymore. If you're still invested by then, keep that in mind.

The movie, from what I've ascertained so far, will focus on original concepts, settings, supporting characters etc. instead of relying on the cartoon's continuity. But is the broad strokes it looks a lot more like S1-4 than S5+ so consider it an optional appendix to that first "arc".
