Either watch the new seasons, stop complaining, or fuck off. I'm sorry but we have enough "anything before/after this season is absolute garbage" shitposters on here already. If against all odds considering this shitpost spaghetti of a website we're on right now, your actually being sincere, my honest recommendation is to watch it. If you enjoyed season 3, you should be fine with 4, 5, 6 and 7 so far. Stop asking for permission from some goofy fucks on a pony website and form your own opinion. Keep an open mind, and don't want to hate the newer seasons, like you probably did when you first discovered the show.

This. The gradually-replaced team of writers and showrunners have been screwing things up more often than improving things.

It's a little hard to say concisely, but there was a major underlying coherency and balance that the show had that was lost somewhere around that time. Every later episode has to carry the weight of all the screwups they've made before. So many lost or squandered opportunities, inconsistent characterization, and forgetting to add the "lovable" to the "lovable cunts" personalities.

The show's lost it's soul, and it's impossible to ignore. Even when the episodes are usually at least entertaining to watch on the whole, developing the setting, and maintaining those rules as the show grows, isn't even on the radar of the writers.

This is why I tend to prefer stories and shows written by just one writer. Or stories made with a pre-established "bible" of some kind.

Even something like Farscape, as out there as it sometimes got, stuck to the themes and rules they laid out.

Any fondness I have for MLP feels like it's in spite of what the actual show writers are doing, not because of it.
