Who would fuck with them? Really the only thing surprising here is that they're not being mobbed by ponies looking to small-talk with royalty, probably something that the curator made sure to warn patrons about.

Equestria is a very peaceful, nature-attuned world. Only in the cities will you find the extreme bustle you find here on Earth. I was just thinking about that the other week as I was driving around the strip malls and suburbs—ponies would be positively shocked by the degree to which man modifies his environment. Everything from the sidewalk, to the drainage grates, to the roads, to the medians in the roads, to the houses and driveways, to the telephone poles and power pylons going for miles...all that land had to be flattened and developed. I also think ponies would be shocked at just how many people there are. I've always gotten the feeling that the pony world is comparatively sparsely populated. Even the big cities don't break past a few million.

To be fair, a lot of our mass enviromental modification is pretty much down to the invention and widespread use of the car, which make "flat mostly even surfaces stretching across your entire land and branching throughout and connecting to all dwellings within your countries villages, towns and cities" completely mandatory.
It also forces the village, town or city to develop in an orderly fashion to accommodate said roads, villages less so.
Comparing an american suburb to an old english town really showcases the sheer difference "Car accessibility" makes in terms of planning.
