You don't need to have some kind of gigantic knowledge to gain money from humanity advancements.

At the beggining you can probably gain money from interviews. Maybe advertise some products, it would allow you to have enough money to start some business. Yeah, they have other speices but you still are alien, so many would pay for chance to interview first alien.

Even if you don't know how most of the technology work you still can find some ways to monetize it or even replicate some more advanced things with magic.
Or if you aren't interested in tech, you can sell ideas, music, hell, find some pony with writing cutie-mark, give him outline of some human book, and than sell it as "aslien books", probably many ponies would buy it just because they are curious.

Also their army is really backward, you don't need to be professor to explain how guns work, even if Equestria isn't interested probably some other country would buy it, and there is shitload of money in the military.

It always irks me when Anon with whole his knowledge ends as farmhand or masseur. I didn't spend most of my life learning things, that would help me score good job to end in probably not too well-paid career without any chance of improvement. Salary if you work for AJ is probably really shitty, not enough to aford house, and even if Aloe and Lotus pay quite well, it's still small SPA in small town, not Cantrelot or anything.

Honesty a lot of our technology is pretty weird when you objectively think about it.
Instead of being pulled by something, the majority of our carts are completely enclosed boxes powered by purposely causing minature explosions (hundreds per minute) inside a smaller metal box usually placed directly in front of where we drive the thing.
We then drive those vehicles at an average speed which will cover 30 miles within an hour (And usually double that), while the average human can only run around 8 miles within an hour.
They have trains, but i think the extent of their tech without magic involved is around steam level, so even the most basic understanding of shit we take for granted today would be enough to get a pony scientist drooling at the possibilities.

If a pony needed something, the three races have a mix of specialised Strength, Flight and Magical bullshit to where they dont have to think about creative solutions to problems.

I didn't write about inventing new things from scraps, but showing them how to properly build thing they already have.

It isn't great philosophy to redesign it to match our inventions. You don't need to reinvent propeller for airships, they already have it. Just change shape of whole thing, maybe add some rotors, again you don't to need invent it, they already have it (Pinkie), and bum you can sell it.
I don't speak about building whole thing by yourself of course, you have others to do it. Find some rich investors and voila, you are now pioneer of aviation.
Or, I dunno steamships, they already have proper engines, you know how end result should look, just redesign what they already have.
Planes: Pegasi are flying species, so probably they have rather advanced aviation for their overall tech level, so you can just skip to the finall effect. Don't build it just invent concept of thing flying without moving wings, and leave other work for ponies who can build it, and refine details.
And guns aren't really complex at least early, and even if mechanism is complicated it works on simple principle. You wouldn't build modern submachine gun with their tech level but lets say USA Civil War/7 Years' War is within reach of most of the people.

Unless you are some kind of crazy inventor you wouldn't be able to just push their whole society into new age. But you can do enough to assure comfortable life for you and your waifu, or even some power for yourself if you are interested. After that, once I've pretty much gotten access to the shop, I'd do locksmithing for wherever I'm at, perhaps 'invent' locking mechanisms that equestria hasn't found yet. Once I'd gotten enough money and skill, I'd like to live as an adventurer, preferably with a companion or two that have varying skills. Equestria still has a lot of unexplored land, and even the explored land has tons of places like the Castle of the Two Sisters, I'm sure.
