Actually I always expected the rainbow mane be a unique thing for Dash after some childhood incident when she fell into rainbow or something. Oh well, death to headcanons I guess.

Her parent was retconned and then we have show staf like Jim Miller damage controlling that he just was never planned to be her dad. And by "always" they mean since last year when they come up with this episode and forgot that she was shown with one already in past seasons.

Where on this card does it say that he isn't her dad? You can learn stuff from your father, so calling him a 'mentor' doesn't mean shit. In fact, I think people were holding this card up as proof at the time BECAUSE it says 'Dashing Mentor'. They were probably just hedging their bets just in case he turned out not to be her dad because it wasn't explicitly confirmed. Which was good, since now it's explicitly confirmed that he's not.

I can't manufacture outrage over the retcon, since I like the design for her dad and this guy looks so generic.

I've become scared of making new ideas. I haven't even written on one of my other stories in the works. Like, I'm writing a fucking slasher story set in EQG, but what if something fucking changes THERE as well? I mean, they got super powers now, for fuck's sake, how the fuck's a slasher killer gonna kill Rainbow Dash if she can outrun a slow-walking Jason or Micheal?
