No such thing. I remember someone said in a waifu thread once, if you're capable of having a waifu you're already good enough to have her. If you feel like she's leaving you behind then try to become better for her. She's worth it.

For me it's a delight to see her becoming a pony she always wanted to be, the pony she was trying to protect while being on her own against the world she condemned. She made amazing progress since her reformation, both with Twilight and on her own when she was ready - and it looks like she really was ready for it. I am so proud of her.

If these people who go around crying that she's a bad, boring character would actually take a moment to look at her story and it's progression more deeply, and at different points analyze her behavior and actions, they would see development and improvement. Her development doesn't happen in huge, glaring chunks over the course of one episode, and it isn't presented in obvious, in your face forms that are impossible to miss. It's as if nobody bothers with basic analysis.

When she gets up there, the red dot just sits there in the middle of the table.
>She crouches down with her ass and tail in the air, ready to pounce on it, when you click the button again and the dot disappears. Her ears start to go haywire again, as she starts yet again looking round for it.
>You move up to her and put your hand on her head, starting to gently rub behind her ears. She blinks a few times, then looks over at you.

Starlight was now pressed tightly against your chest, trying to curl up so she fit all of herself into the jacket.

I think she is. Just in a different way. Similiar as to what twilight has with celestia just not as strong. Celestia seems to be something like a second mother to Twilight. I can't say the same applies to Twi and glim but something in that direction. What I do believe though is that Glim isn't really friends with the rest of the m6. Twi "adopted" her and everyone kinda had to accept glim and she had to accept them. Doesn't mean they don't like each other but it's just a different thing. I think that the m6 are more like a family to glim and trixie/maud would be actual friends.

I can see how it's a similar kind of relations as Celestia-Twilight but at the same time it's pretty different. Celestia wasn't really Twilight's friend as M5 were and she wasn't trying to teach her friendship. She wasn't also THE princess of friendship, the one who supposedly knows friendship the best. And yet Twilight, keeping Starlight so close still failed to teach anything by herself, at least on-screen.

Granted Starlight isn't the easiest pony to teach friendship to and it was kinda the point of it all but what I've taken away from it is that they don't really understand each other and I don't think they even try. There was no "spark" moment between them, you know. There is respect and good will but with how their relations started I don't think they ever had a chance to connect on a deeply personal level.

In field of magic they are perfect for each other though. And it was really touching how in Twilight's fantasies in CA she never even thought of anything bad or wrong on Starlight's side. No bringing up her past affecting her, no emotional instability. Her vision of Starlight is filled with confidence and pride. So that's nice at least.

And yeah, M5 isn't really Starlight's closest friends, she just calls them "Twilight's friends". Now she has actual friends of her own and she showed how she actually behaves with them, this is why I am uncertain about her stance on Twilight now since it's so different.
