I think this episode is the rebuttal for those people who think that Pinkie would be a more suitable Princess of Friendship than Twilight. Pinkie thinks friendship happens in narrowly defined, easily recognizable ways and tries to force friendships that should really be formed organically and at their own paces.

When you compare Andrea's 2010 Pinkie voices to the current ones, you can hear a clear difference. 2010's was squeakier and more prone to squeaking the lines as opposed to shouting or just talking them out. Now she sounds a bit older and has less restraint when it comes to exclamations.
