season 4 was good, decent at worst. hope you like twilight
season 5 was god tier
season 6 was immensely hit or miss. some amazing episodes, some godawful ones, mostly meh to bad
i liked the season 7 premiere but am being cautious about expectations for it

Watch S4. It's a perfect jumping-off point if you've seen the first 3. Ties up a lot of loose ends, tweaks some shitty decisions, goes off with a bang, lotsa good stuff.

S5 kinda starts a new multi-season arc. We haven't had anything as HYPE as the S4 finale, probably because it was the culmination of 4 seasons worth of development that they'd need to properly build up again. It's still the same show, there are still great individual episodes, there're still a lot of throwbacks to/reference from/world-building around S1-4, but the main focus of the premiers, finales and season-by-season narrative has shifted to something other than Twilight's personal journey.

But yeah seriously watch S4. After that, see how you feel.

Pretty much. There's a lot of great episodes in the season and it actually wraps up some storylines. There's some absolute trash, though. Princess Spike is easily one of the worst episodes in the series.

Fair enough. I brought S5 up in another thread like 10 minutes prior & it got me thinking about how it's one of my least-favourite seasons, because I didn't like the Starlight arc.
Then I got thinking about it again in this thread and realized "well... at least it had Griffonstone". Then "and Moondancer". Then "...and the 5th Annual". Individual episodes start blurring together to me after S4, I had to actively think about it.
