A company usually lets the creative team handle the inclusion of shitty toy ideas and turns them into something decent by smoothly inserting the toy ideas as if they came from the writer's room when they brainstormed for ideas, instead of something that came from upper management at Hasbro Studios.

Shining Armor is forced in as Twilight's brother, effectively making everyone hate him even more than they already did.
But now it isn't even about the toys. The characters from the new MLP Movie were Vogel's ideas, same for Starlight Glimmer and Slice of Life which Larson said he didn't want to do it and his own script didn't even make it to the final product.
It seems like Vogel is in charge not only of coming up with toy ideas, but executing them as well. That's how we got Flurry Heart.
Vogel is a weirdo. Sabotaging an entire franchise for absolutely no reason other than he loves taking a massive dump on it by self-inserting his terrible headcanons, OCs and ideas into it.

The person with the creative vision is in charge of every creative aspect of something, that is how a cartoon show keeps its consistency throughout all the episodes. That's why IDW's comic books have such a different style and tone compared to the actual cartoon show they're based on.
Every idea has to go through him in order to be filtered so it follows 1 cohesive direction. Just like Lauren Faust did it before him. He reads the writers' scripts and gives notes on what to change, to the point where he self inserts his own ideas, headcanon, personality into the show.
The writers have to obey/follow the person's creative vision, which not only comes up with the concept, but he decides how that idea is executed through decisions and how it ends up.
The visionary makes sure his vision is followed exactly how he wants it. Then the production team handles the rest. The executive producer should never be alone in writing all the scripts, composing the music by himself, animating, storyboarding, etc. that relies on the production, while you just give the orders around how you want your product to be made.
The "creative team effort" is often a lie because you cannot have more 1 leader otherwise you start giving mixed signals and everyone pulls in the opposite direction because every person has his own direction and vision about what the show should be about.
I'm curious how The Last Airbender would have been like we removed the directors, but kept the writers.

I don't like it the way he wrote most of it because he inserted his own style, personality and ideas which I don't agree with. So I sit with him with his script and tell all the things I want to change.

Not Vogel. When Lauren was developing FiM he was head of the boys side of Hasbro animation. Over on the girls and preschool side they gave Lauren pretty free reign to develop FiM, only tightening the reins once the characters and world were built and the thing was enough of a hit to go on without her. Vogel wasn't involved until they scrapped the Hub and consolidated the two animation groups under him.
