>“The Starlight I love is passionate, lively and yeah, sometimes angry. Those are my favorite parts of you."

Why not "like"? Can you imagine any of the mane six using the word “love” to refer to their friendship for one another? And then she added, “Those are my favorite parts of you.” Friends don't have "favorite parts" of each other to begin with, let alone in the context of why they love each other.

S7E2 was about bottling up emotions in a relationship.
>>
>>29905860
I fully support this ship, but the second half of your proposition kinda falls flat.

>Friends don't have "favorite parts" of each other to begin with
How about the ponut
>>
>>29905868
Friends don't have or list favorite parts of each other; that's a cutesy thing people in a relationship do. Friends just share different interests and some interests overlap, and the preponderant overlapping interest is enjoying spending time with each other.

>>29905900
"We've loved" is very different from "I love." Friends and family can say "we love" and parents can say "I love" in some circumstances, but friends don't say "I love."

I actually really dislike this ship. I just can't deny that the writers worded it very conspicuously.
>>
>>29905860
You can love your friends. It's possible to love your friends and not want to fuck them. Romance is a different kind of love than the love between friends.
>>
>>29906036
Yes, and that's the manner in which Rarity said >>29905900. It's the wording that conveys something very different. Friends can say "We love you." Friends don't say, "I love you."
>>
Speaking of bizarre wording, Celestia said, "There's no wrong way to fantasize."

"Daydream" or "pretend" would have fit much better. "No wrong way to fantasize" was just conspicuous. The writers know what they're doing.

Yes, "I love you guys." Plural, the transpose of "We love you."

Is /mlp/ really so autistic they can't see the difference? All it takes is having friends to know how friendships and social interactions in friendships work.
>>
>>29906134
You're the one going on about Trixie meaning a declaration of romantic feelings when she says "love". When she says "The Starlight I love", it means "The Starlight I've come to know and love" and "The things I love about you".

And you said "Can you imagine any of the mane six using the word 'love' to refer to their friendship for one another?" when that's exactly what Pinkie Pie did. So I guess you were wrong.
>>
>>29906004
>"I LOVE YOU, MAN!"
"Woah."
>"No homo tho, bro. I LOVE YOU!"
"Okay, okay, please stop hugging me."
>"You've been my best friend since we were kids. You're like a brother to me, I mean that! I want you to be the best man at my wedding!"

If two dudebros can be like this, then two women can definitely have an easier time of using the word without tongue-fucking each other.
>>
>>29905860
>>29905868
Its a sisters love. Fuck off, autist.
>>
>>29906249
That's an exception to the singular-on-both ends rule, and it's contextual and idiosyncratic, but I'm not surprised /mlp/ can't see the difference. And I'm not saying it implies they're in a relationship; read below.

>>29906185
That is not what I'm saying. I am saying the wording is bizarre and conspicuous, and it has to do with the singularness of it in both subject and object. Followed by, "Those are my favorite parts of you," which friends don't have or list, the whole thing is exceptionally bizarre and conspicuous, which writers would not do accidentally. That is all.
>>
>>29905860
It's different for girls. They can use the word "love" a lot more liberally than guys can. Little girls are expected to be sweet and tender, and it's far more acceptable for them to say they love their friends than boys. But children in general aren't bound by implications of the word "love" like the ones you're coming up with—if being around someone makes them feel happy, welcome, and loved, then yeah, they're going to say they love that person. Romance has nothing to do with it. You can't honestly tell me this has all escaped your attention. All it would take is having friends and observing how children interact to know it.

And in a series that's covered with hearts and rainbows one can expect the word "love" to be used liberally.
>>
>>29906307
>"Those are my favorite parts of you," which friends don't have or list
I don't know, that could also be contextualized. Such as her saying "I wont stop being your friend, I actually like that about you." Or worse, "I wouldn't be your friend if there was no part of you I liked." Which, with Trixie being an egoist, she might actually say and mean.

There's also begging the question from the other party "What is it about me that you like? Why do you hang out with me?"
>>
>>29906134
>>29906307
Anon, you're accusing others of being autistic when you yourself are getting hung up on a word to force an idea that isn't there. Use common sense. Do you honestly, HONESTLY think romance was what the writers were going for? Yeah, Trixie could have said "The Starlight I like", but it makes no difference that she said "love".

Also,
>"Those are my favorite parts of you," which friends don't have or list
The fuck is this even supposed to mean? You can easily list out the things you like about a friend. They've always got your back; they're funny; they're smart; they always pick you up on time; they think like you do; they make the world a better place. Whatever.
>>
>>29906370
Those are things you like about your friend, not "your favorite parts of them."

I give up if /mlp/ really can't see how conspicuous it was.

I hate this ship. I just couldn't help but notice how conspicuous it was, just like >>29906082.
>>
>>29906407
>Those are things you like about your friend, not "your favorite parts of them."
The fuck do you think "your favorite parts of them" means? If what you're trying to say is that it was awkward phrasing, then fine. If you're implying beyond that, then sorry, it's not sticking.
>>
>>29906461
Yes. Of course the writers wouldn't make it explicit, but they can write an awkward line, and the conspicuous line entails its intentionality for what the writers had in mind.
>>
>all this autistic focusing on non-existent shipping fuel
>not applying that autistic focus on the fact that Trixie's actions were on the borderline of what would make her a sociopath
Fimflamfilosophy was right.
>>
>>29906307
>"Those are my favorite parts of you," which friends don't have or list
Look out guys we got a friendship expert here.
>>
>>29905860
>Why not "like"?
Because it wouldn't properly describe how close a bond they've formed through their friendship.
>>
>>29906593
It's Glimmer who behaved sociopathically in Every Little Thing, and this is what FimFlamFilosophy said. Trixie just acted like the oblivious narcissist she is.
>>
>>29906616
Talking about his rants on the character during the Pony Fantasy lets play.
Quote "Even in the actual show."
>>
>>29906593
Greg is a very learned dude. However, Trixie is more of a Egotist. Girl’s in love with herself almost as much as she cares about Glimglam.

But lets not forget that Vogel and his crack team of Master Baiters knew how to lay down the foundation for this discourse. We wouldn’t be discussing this possible-shipping crap if Vogel wasn’t the pandering bastard he is. As much as I like the idea of Trixie and Glimmer being a thing, its one of those ambiguous relationships that Execs love. Like, I can see them teasing the shit out them being a pair for seasons to come. Until there’s something more definitive proof of a romantic relationship, they’re just battle-sisters.

That was a really touching moment displaying meaningful friendship.
>>
>>29910457
Not really. The writers have made the mistake of telling, not showing. Sure they make Glimmer and Trixie out to be such great friends but literally every single interaction we've seen them have with one another has been Trixie acting obnoxious and annoying Glimmer. Even before this episode this was the case. This entire episode was just the writers realizing their fuck up and writing their friendship as
>no guiz, Glimmer LIKES being friends with a cunt xD

It's practically Stockholm syndrome for the both of them. They're both shitty, broken ponies who only hang out with one another because they're both dysfunctional

You're the most autistic one here, I'm afraid. Love has more than one meaning, and one of those meanings is a part of true friendship.
But interpret those words as you wish; you can search for innuendos in every wink and every smile, just don't come here and say we don't know how friendship works.
You fuck.

>>
>>29905860
Yeah, I found that a little weird too. Obviously, there have been plenty of cases where "lobe" was used as a term of friendship in the series without being romantic love, but these cases were exclusively plural, i.e. "We love you", "I love you guys", never towards a single character. A lot of people are picking up on this, and not the other zillion times thw word was used, because that's fucking weird. Towards a group of friends, it's quite obvious the intent, but towards a single person it would be awkward as fuck, especially when you're perfectly sober.
